Listen to music while watching TV: Can you listen to music while watching muted TV somehow on this receiver, on my Sony I cannot, I have to choose my FM or IPAD or choose TV, sometimes I want to watch a ballgame and have the music playing? Jan 2, 2012
I do not have this product, but I have been doing research on this receiver for a little bit. Happen to come across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-54gx09HGQ. It would appear that you can listen to music from any source and watch muted tv.

Using the older style video output - 3 RCA plugs, white, red and yellow. Check the output connections in the Yamaha specs for full options.

So I have this unit, and was watching basketball, but couldn't hear the ball dribbling unless i had it on 7 Channel Stereo or 7 Channel Enhancer help? Mar 16, 2015
It depends on which channel has the dribble sound. If you have a 2 ch setup and you are receiving 7 ch sound you will eliminate some of the sounds because you are not "reading" all 7 ch. If you have 2 ch setup and you put it on 7 ch sound then you may experience a very LOUD dribble and sounds on other ch may be diminished. If you are receiving 7 ch sound you really need 7 ch setup to appreciate it fully. Otherwise a great unit.
