First Impressions - Yamaha RXV-665 with iPod dock,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yamaha RXV665BL Digital Receiver Bundle (Electronics)
I bought this receiver and iPod dock for my family room home theater and liked it so much that I bought another one for my media room. I have had them about a month and am fully satisfied with the quality and features.
Positives: Full-featured receiver, works as advertised. I particularly like the Zone 2 feature. I may play 5.1 movie soundtrack in Zone 1 (family room) and music from the iPod (simultaneously) in Zone 2 (patio). Also, the iPod dock connects with a single cable and allows data to transfer both directions. The contents of the iPod can be read back to the receiver (using the "display" feature) and you can navigate to the desired music via the display on the receiver or on the TV if one is connected to the receiver. Negatives: No serious deficiencies so far. One minor nuisance is that it takes a while to navigate to desired music on the iPod. I have perhaps 300 albums which are listed alphabetically on the receiver's display (only one diplays at a time and you have to scroll to the desired album). If I want an album starting late in the alphabet (e.g., Yellow Brick Road") it takes a hile to scroll through the preceeding 200+ album titles. I don't have a solution to suggest, but that has been the obnly minor annoyance I have encountered so far. |
