Note that if you're running a newer Mac (I have a MacBook Pro) you have to download the latest driver from Yamaha. And another gotcha is that you have to completely uninstall the driver they give you in the box before the new one will work. It's annoying as all get out, but the instructions for how to do the uninstall are on the CD so it's not -too- bad.

Anyway, once the right driver was installed this cable worked perfectly. I can record myself in GarageBand now while playing my DD-55 drum kit.

I bought my Yamaha UX16 USB-MIDI interface just the other day. It replaced my former MIDI hookup, which was more complex and cumbersome.

My other midi connection was a Midiman Midisport 2x2 from M-Audio. It was cool for a while, but I ran into a serious problem with it. When I upgraded my computer to my current system, I found that M-Audio does not have a 64-bit driver for my MIDI hardware. This left me with no choice.

I called a few local electronics and music stores in my area. None of them had this in stock. However, I ended calling Piano Distributors in Sarasota. They had this for sale for $35.00. I knew I had struck gold.

If you want to connect an older keyboard to your PC or laptop without any glitches or problems, get your hands on a UX16.

Works flawlessly on both 32 and 64-bit versions of XP and Windows 7. If you need a legacy MIDI DIN connector to USB interface this is the product to buy! BTW, I have only tested this product with Yamaha brand keyboards! Well built and a decent cable length.

This cable worked perfectly after installing the driver (and rebooting). It's unfortunate that Yamaha makes their products so that they won't work with generic midi cables.

After hours of trying to get a usb-midi interface to work, I phoned Yamaha. The technical support rep was nice but told me they do not have a driver for VISTA 64 bit operating system. This is my second cable that was unable to use. Before purchasing this product, please make sure your computer is compatible with this product.

Here's the deal. If you own a Yamaha product and want to connect it to your computer via usb and use it as a midi controller, USE THIS CABLE. Other cheaper cables aren't of any help, as they have higher latency and can't transmit as many signals at the same time. If you're using a Yamaha DD-50 (drum kit/pad) there is no replacement. Other cables will leave you with a terrible gap in speed, specifically if you hit two notes at the same time. Same goes for Yamaha keyboards. You're so much better off using this than a Hosa cable or something similar.

In short, if you're using a Yamaha product, use this with it. You'll regret it if you don't.

As a side note, sometimes you have to plug the in into the out. It depends on the device, but sometimes it's necessary for the signal to send.

It works as expected. Really does not get much easier than this. MacBook Pro to our Yamaha Piano. Could not be easier to setup with Garage Band.

It does exactly what it says it would. But please go to official yamaha website to get the latest software version. This product is now 6-8 years old, but you still need it if you want to link it. Can't wait to everything to be wireless. I use logic pro with it.

I was a little bit worried about ordering this cable because of some negative reviews, but took a chance anyway. I'm glad I did! It is still working great a month later. The only issue I had with setup was not knowing which plug went on the left/right. Once I reversed them, it worked well.

I bought this and used it only a few times. I ended up not using after I found out that the reverb and other nifties didn't translate to the computer via midi, so I hooked up the keyboard through the mic jack. This is not the products fault however, the product worked as described. It is just that I am fairly new to hooking a keyboard to a computer, so lets just say it was user error. If you are in the market for a midi interface, this one will do quite nicely. I cannot however give it 5 stars because the cord in my opinion should be a good bit longer, its not easy to have my keyboard so close to the computer so as to hook this up, your experience may differ if your board is closer to the puter.
