I just learned how to play the guitar and I really wanted to tackle another musical instrument, so I thought of the piano. As I am on a really tight budget and have such a small space I went with this keyboard, the Yamaha YPT-220 and I'm glad that I did.

I've only had it for about three days but already can play a few things. It comes with a built in Y.E.S. (Yamaha Education Suite)which teaches you how to play over 100 songs. However, you may have to pause frequently because the notes are played standard, not slowed down. Now, there were some complaints about not being able to hit the lower notes, which you cannot on this keyboard. In order to do that you'll need the 76 key keyboard. But, if you are like me and on a tight budget or have a small space then this keyboard is perfect.

I've been going on Youtube and seeing how to play certain songs that I like and so far all the songs I want to play, it's been possible because there are just enough keys. Also, this keyboard DOES come with the power adapter and it does work. This keyboard is made of plastic, so don't expect anything metal. I don't have a problem with it being made of plastic. It doesn't take away from the overall look of the keyboard. Please do be aware that the keys are not just like piano keys. They are close, but they are not weighted. So, be careful when pressing them. I feel that I got my money's worth out of it and am not disappointed.

I'm a full time piano teacher who has recommended dozens of Yamaha keyboards to my customers. This one LOOKED LIKE a touch sensitive model from the language in the Yamaha/Amazon product description. BUT IT IS NOT TOUCH SENSITIVE. My rating is low because of the deceptive product description, I quote:

"Portable Grand Button: stunningly rich and authentic in its sound and exceptionally responsive to your playing touch"

I found this same deceptive language on the Yamaha web page for this product.

I got burned by this and I promise you this keyboard is NOT responsive to your playing touch AT ALL. For a little bit more money you can get a touch sensitive model.

I bought this keyboard for my five year old who was beginning piano lessons. She loves it and the sound and quality are fantastic. I highly recommend this keyboard for beginners.

I bought this keyboard for my grandaughter. She started playing guitar last year and was ready to try and learn how to play the keyboard. I didn't want to spend too much and got this item for less than $100. There are plenty of features to play around with and it came with the adapter to plug it in. With only 61 keys, she will be limited in what she learns. If she shows an interest, then I will purchase a 76 or 88 key personal keyboard.

I purchased this product for my 16 yr old daughter who has been taking music lessons and wants to practice in her free time. The keyboard arrived on time and in good condition, but the AC power adapter was not included. One of the deciding factors in my selection of this product was that the Amazon ad for it specifically states that it includes the AC power adapter. It also did not include the 8 AA batteries needed to power the product. I also noticed that a number of people who purchased this product have also purchased a separate power adapter! That should have been a clue to me that what was advertised was not what I would get. If you decide to go ahead and make this purchase, expect to spend another $12 - $25 on a power adapter plus shipping.
From a quality point of view, the keyboard seems fine but I have to rate this product down to 3 stars due to the above described problem.

This is a good quality product with good sound and easy to use. Sound is versatile and from a distance sounds like the instrument is being duplicated. This is a great way to pass time for us old folks and could be very instructional for beginners.

I got it for my son for Christmas and I was surprised by how good it looks and how many options/settings it has. My son was changing all the sound settings and having so much fun trying different things. It's probably not for a professional, but if you consider this keyboard for a student - then it would be a good choice. My son loves this keyboard.

This is a really lovely keyboard with great sound, good action, and lots of fun features. Our only disappointment was that the package did not include the listed AC adapter, which I've just asked Amazon to send along.
