You can practice the preset Songs using these lesson functions: "Keys to Success", "Listening, Timing, Waiting" and "Phrase Repeat." Keys to Success helps you master a Song, whereas Listening, Timing, Waiting helps you first master the timing then playing the correct notes. Phrase Repeat lets you select and repeatedly practice a specific phrase in the Song. In the "Keys to Success" mode, you can practice individual phrase separately. Each time you finish a specific Step, your score is shown in the display. Passing one Step (with a score of 60 or better) lets you go on to next one automatically.

With headphones, it sounds great and the keys feel just like a regular piano.

It is a wonderful starter keyboard, but also good for someone who already knows how to play the piano.
Kathy
I would have given the keyboard 5 stars but I am a little disappointed in the output volume.

I think the this keyboard sounds great! Although with your still not sure watch this video of me showing some of the instruments it has.

Extra's that come with it
===================
1. Recorder (record your songs and listen to them play back) you can also store multiple recordings in it for later use.
2. Sustain (acts like your holding down on a sustain pedal without actually having one.
3. Dual Instruments (have 2 instruments go at once)
4. Split button and a harmony button.

I actually used a sustain pedal for this.

Very nice keyboard for a beginner or an experienced musician.
Tons of great features which I have yet to learn. Sounds very realistic, better then Casio keyboards.
The only dissapointment was that on the product discription page it does not say that keyboard comes with AC adapter. Based on the description and the suggestion from Amazon that together with the keyboard customers were buying AC adapter; I ordered AC adapter separately. Now I have 2 adapters, one of them is collecting dust and was additional expense to me for no reason. Beware! Do not order separate AC adapter with this keyboard, it already comes with one. I give 4 stars because of that, otherwise it would be 5.
I also ordered Yamaha L3C Attachable Keyboard Stand for this keyboard. Yamaha does not say it's compatible with YPT-320, but it fits nicesly. I like the fact that the stand is screwed to the bottom of the keyboard so it will not fly off the stand, like it can do from one of those X-style stands.

Update May 12th, 2011. Since Amazon finally updated the product description and now it states that AC adapter is included I am changing my rating to 5 stars. The keyboard is awesome and performs very well.

I am very pleased with this keyboard and consider it a good value for the price. I had never played a keyboard before this one, but have been playing piano and organ (both pipe & electronic) for 40+ years for churches, weddings, funerals & dinner music. The keyboard voices are very representative of the instruments they are supposed to replicate. I was surprised by how many of the settings of the keyboard can be customized to the individual performer's preferences. (These include such settings as being able to switch the "split note" of where the accompaniment notes voices end for the left hand and begin for the lead notes voices of the right hand as well as individual volume level adjustments for the split keyboard voices or dual voice settings.) The size of the keyboard makes it more easily portable than an 88-key one, yet the 61-key still provides enough octaves of notes to easily play with both hands. I would recommend getting a sustain pedal M-Audio SP-2 US65010 Sustain Pedal Piano Style Sustain Pedal for Keyboards for it as it makes especially the piano settings sound more like an accoustic piano. The touch-sensitive keys also help with replicating an accoustic piano sound as well as enable the melody notes to "solo" for other selected voices when those notes are struck harder than the accompaniment notes. I highly recommend a "touch-sensitive" keyboard model over one that is not.

I would have given the keyboard 5 stars but I am a little disappointed in the output volume. Even on the highest volume setting it is not very loud and on the lowest setting it is barely audible.

I did a lot of on line research and came up with this keyboard as my final choice. This was a purchase for my 8 yr old son (but is certainly a high grade product that can be used by all ages) who LOVES playing on a keyboard. Previously, he had a much cheaper version of one so we wanted to upgrade it this year for Christmas. He absolutely loves it! This is a great choice at a reasonable cost for a keyboard with a lot to offer and has a great "feel" to it. Additionally, it comes with all the necessary cords to plug it in...many did not,and had to be purchased seperately. I would highly reccommend this product!

I already own a Yamaha YGP-625, which is much more of a keyboard than this one in terms of quality. But even though it can be moved around, it's not portable. So I went looking for something more mobile. This is what I decied on, and I'm very impressed. Although the buttons are laid out differently, this small keyboard works almost identically to the larger Yamaha. And the tonal sounds are almost as good too. It's extremely easy to play, and to build your own songs with the features of accompliment and rhythm. Also, the ability to mix tones, and add reverb and other affects makes this keyboard extremely flexible for any keyboard player. And, though I'll never use them, the learning ability on this keyboard did impress me too.

Only negative, is like others here that it just doesn't seem to have much volume. The bigger YGP-625 I have blows the doors down, this smaller YPT-320 just doesn't put out much. It probably enough for most, but I like to feel my music and it's hard with this keyboard. Not enough of a problem for loosing a star, but it is a consideration. Plus sometimes the accompliment volume seems too loud for the regular voices. As good as Yamaha is at sounds, this seems like a miss on their part.

Overall, I'd recommend this keyboard hands down for anyone.
