I have a more expensive plastic Yamaha recorder at home, but this is the one we are using in an adult "advanced beginners" class. The sound is decent for a plastic recorder. This one is in the trunk of my car and is just taken out once a week for the class. It doesn't clog very easily (something that seems more likely when you've been playing a good wooden one for awhile.) This is a good choice for a beginner recorder. And when I've heard it played by our instructor, the tone is really quite good. Instead of the $2 one piece recorders, splurge :-). Being an acoustic guitar player who has to always be concerned about things like humidity, temperature and having to take great care with an instrument, this is great. Nothing is going to damage it, doesn't take up much space, and you can make music with it. Seriously, this sounds as good as some plastic ones I've heard that cost $15-$30 dollars. The 4 star rating is based on comparably priced plastic recorders, and not the more expensive wooden ones.

I purchased these recorders to teach to my second graders. In the past when I taught third grade, these same recorders were used for them. They are good quality for the students.

This was bought for a 4th grade student for music class at school. It has a good sound and is sturdy enough to survive the daily trip to school in a 9 year old boys backpack.

This seems to have much better sound than the even cheaper plastic recoder it replaced. It is well made and has good sound for the price. (Key words here are "for the price".) Don't expect it to compare to and "real" wooden instrunment. It does it's intended job well - teaching kids the basics of music but I gave 4 not 5 stars because it still hast that "plastic" sound quality but I doubt any inexpensive plastic recorer would be better

The recorder arrived promptly to our out-of-state grandson. He is learning to play it at his grade school, so he is very pleased with the purchase!

I purchased this recorder for my 9 year old daughter for school. The school was selling $10 ones that looked like they were worth $1 and the same goes for Target. This instrument sounds and looks top of the line! Thank you for the fantastic discount for a quality item.

Bought this recorder for my 5th Grade son. It does its job and my son says it plays and handles well. The first recorder I bought from Amazon broke: my son was careless with it in his bookbag. This time I told him to take it to school only on the day he has music for I feared that if he had it with him everyday in his book bag it would end up being broken like the first one. Just handle it with care and it will last.
