These chopsticks are the perfect travel chopsticks.
What makes a good pair of travel chopsticks? 1) Adjustable length: short to fit in a lunchbag/purse/pocket and long to balance nicely in the hand and keep you fingers away from the food. 2) The material has to be durable and easily washable. 3) The material and/or design has to not harbor bacteria/food remnants. 4) The case has to be easily washable, durable and portable. 5) They have to be inexpensive in case you loose them. 6) Preferably lightweight as you will be carrying these around. Although these chopsticks fit all the above criteria perfectly, there are a few notes/tips to consider when purchasing these: 1) These chopsticks essentially tapered steel barrels. They are hollow to be lightweight and strong. 2) Steel chopsticks are not for the novice chopstick user. It is harder to grasp things. These do have ridges on the food end but it doesn't help much unless you have really good (& correct) skills. 3) You can burn your lips and tongue eating hot foods with metal chopsticks. Again, not for the novice. 4) The container is an aluminium tube with some plastic lining to prevent the chopsticks from rattling. 5) The chopsticks fit in the tube *very* snugly. There is only 1 way to get them to fit: Insert the lower halves first, pointy food-end facing up. Then insert the remaining halves, screw-end facing up. 6) Since the case is one tube, it is easy to wash with a small bottle brush or by simply rinsing in hot soapy water. 7) The case has "YAMAZAKI" and "MY CHOPSTICKS" printed in grey on opposite ends of the lower barrel. It is very visible in the red and the black. It is much less visible (and gentler on the eye) on the silver case. 8) The clip (tight) and the collar are shiny chrome. Other issues: * These are the lightest steel chopsticks. * Quality Control - I own and use several of these (car bag/desk at work/picnic basket/craft table/tool kit) and have given many as gifts over the years. 9 out of 10 have no problems. Only 1 or 2 have a slight finishing issue with end of the tip of the hand-end and a mere 1 - 2 millimetre difference in length. * If you need a slightly heavier weight but otherwise same chopstick, get the one packaged in the oval reading-glasses tube (sold under various brands). I saw some advertised recently as "brow-pencil" chopsticks. Amazon has them as well:Stainless Steel Portable Travel Chopsticks #8034 * For gift giving, I recommend one of the decorated chopsticks in a matching gift box. They can be found online: search for boxed gift chopsticks. * For novices, a plain bamboo chopstick is best. Or try a banquet style (Chinese-style) straight chopstick. The tapered ends require more skills that comes with much practice.

There was nothing in the description stating that these come in 2 parts to be assembled (reason for 4 stars). I bought these for home use - not travel so would have liked them better in 1 piece & a longer tube. They are extremely light weight for stainless steel. I agree with another review - they are not for the novice user. They still look very nice at the table once assembled.
