This review is from: Yamazaki Bolo 65 piece flatware set with covered wooden caddy. (Kitchen)
The Yamazaki Bolo flatware set is everything I wanted for everyday use. The utensils are plain, sleek, and slightly curved in the hand. Weight is perhaps a bit light for those who like a hefty set, but certainly heavier than many I tried at department stores. The box is a give-away. Don't get your hopes up, you could make it in the garage in a few hours. I am very pleased with the flatware, however. It is darn near impossible these days to find a plain pattern in 18/8 or 18/10 alloy that still has a traditional look to the fork tines, the spoon head, ok...the knife is a bit big for my taste, but I've looked for a number of years and I can live with this minor issue. Would definitely buy again...might even do so just to have spares!January 2012 Update Went online to look for some replacements for our set (how do forks and spoons disappear in a small house?) and noted the concerns expressed by others. For the record, we hand-wash our dishes because there is no place in our small kitchen to put a washer. So far I am still very happy with our purchase. I do feel bad for those of you who have experienced issues with detergent etch and such. We use daily and we cook with all sorts of acidic and other foods. Simply have had no problems here.

I was searching for the numbers that go with this set, 18/10, 18/8, etc....and saw that the Bolo servers that go with it are 18/8, so I figured the 65 piece flatware set is the same. Boy was I wrong. After seeing scratches and nicks in the pieces, I called Yamazaki headquarters and asked. Sure enough, it's 18/0. Do not want.

Rust Stains,

This review is from: Yamazaki Bolo 65 piece flatware set with covered wooden caddy. (Kitchen)
After years of using cheap silverware I finally saved up money and spend hundreds of dollars on 16 settings plus multiple serving utensils of the Bolo silverware. I was horrified when many pieces quickly developed rust spots, especially the knives. I do not use lemon detergent as has been suggested and never had any problems with my cheap silverware. Very, very disappointing. Have recently contacted Yamazaki regarding these defects. DO NOT PURCHASE!

Great Everyday Flatware,

I received these as a wedding gift and my husband and I have been very pleased with them. We were searching for a very simple design that didn't look cheap. That is exactly what we got. Nothing too fancy, just simple. I would recommend them to anyone looking for the same. We are even looking at buying more.
We did notice what we thought were rust stains on the knifes but learned very quickly the spots were due to using lemon detergent in the dishwasher. It caused spots on everything, not just the knives. So, don't use lemon detergent and all of your dishes will look better.

Classy Plain Heavy Stainless Steel Flatware - A Real Value,
This review is from: Yamazaki Bolo 65 piece flatware set with covered wooden caddy. (Kitchen)
For the superb quality cannot beat the price - a real value. These pieces are heavy and well balanced. No joint between the filled hollow handle and blade on the knives so knives should last as long as the rest of the set - like forever! Expect this set to be my last and will be passed on to my children. Got it to go with my first set of Lenox china. Also, got several complimentary sets of serving utensils. Now if only my 'paper thin' Riedel Vinum series wine goblets would last so long!! :-)

Simple yet nice,
This review is from: Yamazaki Bolo 65 piece flatware set with covered wooden caddy. (Kitchen)
I bought this for my daughter who wanted simple yet elegant. The weight is nice, (can't find 18/10 anymore) this is 18/8 which is not bad.
This pattern is a brushed look. It is also an open pattern, so after a few years when folks, spoons, etc. disappear, you can order just what you need. The box this item came in was really useless and not good wood, even dented, but ok to store odds and ends in, or just throw it away. A utensil holder would be more useful.

After one wash in the dishwasher, the knives and forks developed rust spots. Need I say more? This is not stainless steel, this is garbage.
