Blue moons cured plantar fasciitis,
By Tara of the Expanse (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yamuna Body Rolling Foot Saver Kit (Sports)
I worked as an Target employee for 3 months, and standing on the concrete floors for 10 hours a day (no real breaks!) resulted in the development of plantar faciatis, that never went away! I did all the usual treatments, freezing a can of coke and rolling it, stretches, orthotics, Ecco shoes, etc.. The ONLY thing that cured this, was this relatively inexpensive kit. YES, it was incredibly painful for the first, 10 times. YES, I had to do the routine, in a seated position, or with the aid of a pole, so not all my weight was bearing down. YES, I had to wear socks sometimes to reduce the sensitivity. However, this routine is incredibly powerful, if you stick with it, and use them on your own. I think this is a great theapy exercise, especially if you ice afterwards, or use heat or a foot bath before. These also work wonders on hands. Particularly with thumb pain. Put the moons on the floor, and get on your hands and knees, and press your palms into them. They are very good for deep and specific work. With regards to reducing the intensity of the sensation, on her website, she sells, purple nobby half moons, that are better for "waking the foot up" before advancing into the more specific and deeper penetration that the blue moons cause.
By the way, I talked to a Yamuna Body rolling teacher, and she said that Yamuna has a 2 hour foot routine! The tape is really the tip of the iceburg. If you really want to work on your legs and feet, work with someone trained in the system. Try her leg routine in additon to the total body dvd. The foot routine I've heard is the 10 minute warm up to the other routines. We never exercise our feet, or feel it critical until we rip an achilles tendon, etc... I think this is great! It's worth giving it a try. PLUS it's much cheaper than getting a massage or going to PT (or the perfect way to get more out of either, and continue the effects).

I purchased these devices (things?) about six months ago; I have ongoing plantars fasciitis and had just developed an ache in the ball of my foot (technically Metatarsal joint pain). The instructions are well-written, and the DVD was amusing (unintentional) and clear. I found it difficult to balance on the things while doing the exercises, so I put my hand on a wall, or a doorframe, or whatever was handy. Doing the exercises was not pleasant, but it also was not painful - I would call it uncomfortable. But I did it. After about a week my feet started to feel better, and I stopped. About three months later my feet hurt again, and I started using them again. My feet stopped hurting after a few days, and I stopped doing the exercises. I seem to go through this cycle about every three months, and I suspect that if I spent the five minutes it takes to walk on the little blue guys every morning I would have happy feet all the time. I certainly think they are a good investment, as I continue to use them as needed.

Good, but no long term result,
By One Jen of Many (NYC, NY United States) - See all my reviews

Footsavers are good as a type of self foot massage and I recommend them highly for that purpose. However, I used the Footsavers daily for over a month and saw no long term improvement in the condition of my feet. They do help in relaxing the foot, especially the arch area. They help to alleviate post high-heels pain, but contrary to an article that I read in a major women's magazine, they haven't allowed me to wear high heels for extended time periods pain-free. They are easy to use, taking only a few minutes for each "session." The half-spheres are made of a firm glossy rubber-like material. The video is very short and you will only need to view it once or maybe twice to get the hang of it. (Probably written instructions would have sufficed as well). If you have foot pain, Footsavers may help as a massage-like device. However, they will not solve chronic foot problems.

Amaze yourself!,

Footsavers are incredible. After following the ten-minute video routine (which even I could do on my own), my feet felt tingly and awake all day! I can't wait to see what happens after I do the routine regularly. I've never come across anything as powerful for the feet--this is 100% better than any of those wooden roller-type gadgets or electric footspas.

The only thing that fixed my plantar fasciitis,

After 15 years of Skateboarding and 25 years of soccer my plantar fasciitis had become officially debilitating. For 2 years I tried various remedies. Complete rest (I broke my leg and it came back within a month of getting my cast off), tennis ball routine, Coke can routine, massage, Pro-Stretch, Foot-log - nothing worked. I was then given the Foot Saver kit by a friend. After 2 weeks of messing around with it, I noticed substantial relief. Then I watched the DVD and did the 10 minute routine. INCREDIBLE RESULTS. If you have plantar fasciitis buy the kit, watch the DVD and do the routine for a couple of weeks. If you don't find relief, go get a cortisone shot because that will be your only hope.

I love these as I can really get to the pain in my feet and get it worked out. They are great and will be even better when I get to using them consistently and as demonstrated. I recommend them to my friends and anyone who is motivated enough to try something new to relieve their own pain. If you are someone who likes to sit on a nail and complain about the pain, yet are unwilling to do something about it and get up and off the nail, these are not for you. Yes it takes a little effort and some time to watch the video, but the payoff is worth it.

hi,
yes, they can hurt, but it does feel good at the same time. I have a painful condition called metatarsarglia, which feels like peripheral neuropathy, and it seems to help with it. I will probably have to use them daily.

Excellent tool for foot problems. Since hip surgery my gait suffered and over time my feet began to act up. This tool is amazing at stretching the bottom of the feet. It is helping me with my arches that have sort of collapse. After doing the stretches I feel so much more grounded. You must give it a try if you stand on your feet all day or if you wear uncomfortable shoes.

the wonder of the semi-sphering toes,
This review is from: Yamuna Body Rolling Foot Saver Kit (Sports)
I like it at first glance. I love it the more I use it. My body thanks the minute I step on them. My desire to squash them at once grows even more to the same size as my body get invigorated. The price is attractive so that I can get more of the variety of the kind for self massage.
I most have them all.

Not what I expected!,

Reading the title I expected rollers. Beware, nothing rolls at all. I should have done more research into "Yamuma Body Rolling" because I read this as "Rolling Footsavers". My fault! Once I was past my initial disappointment I tried the product and it worked ok. Relieved some of my foot pain initially but no lasting benefit.
