My second grade class sings a patriotic song each morning. We added Yankee Doodle to our list, and enjoy turning the pages of this picture book as we sing. The students particularly liked the folk-style illustrations, which include a man and woman dressed in period-style clothing and their cat. The people and cat change places on different pages through-out the story, charming the readers. The print is large enough that most students can read it from their seats at their desks so they can check the words as we sing.
