5.0 out of 5 stars Hoot!
This book is a real hoot! Many giggles in most chapters. Stuff that really makes sense and that I would never have thought of. Being a re-cycler from waaaay back, this book is great fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do you want to make your yard a junkyard?
At least the book is amusing with advice like; if your vacuum cleaner quits working, decorate it to be a scarecrow for your garden. Because you can roll it around, it will be more effective than a stationary scarecrow. I did plant an upside-down tomato as a result of reading the book, but not in a kitty-litter box as illustrated. I thought the advice either ridiculous or...

well, yes if you do Everything in this book your yard will look terrible, but on the other hand who is really going to do ALL of it? some of the ideas were useful, but the best part of the book wasnt something the author wrote about, it was that this book got me thinking in my own way how to reuse stuff i have on hand. So for that reason, that it may stimulate YOUR creative juices, i gave it a four instead of three.

A nice book with lots of little tips and tricks. My only complaints are that a. I don't wear pantyhose, so some of these aren't relevant hehe :) and b. some of the tips seem kind of repetitive. Other than that, I'm really pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars review, October 22, 2007
This book was very much worth the cost. It is easy quick reading and has wonderful ideas for everyday things people usually just throw away. I was particularly impressed with the eggshell seed starting. Wonderful book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money buy it used!, September 30, 2008
I was disappointed. common sense dictates 98% of these "ideas" I am not impressed and very thankful I purchased a used copy and not a new one!
It will make great compost

As we approach the endless battle of fighting weather, bugs and rodents, endless expense, endless backbreaking work, asking ourselves why we do this each spring; this book has been helpful, fun and frugal...makes you say "why didn't I think of that?"

One could just sit and spend a rainy afternoon reading all the neat ideas in this book. It's one of those, "Why didn't I think of that?" books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooray for organic gardening!, January 22, 2011

I checked out and read this book from my public library. I found the advice on eggshells, tea/coffee grounds, and advice for dealing with aphids and ants to be outstanding. I used the blue jeans tip to choke out weeds and the wet newspaper in planting and establishing flowers and my results were spectacular! I would highly recommend this as a reference book in any gardener's library.
