4.0 out of 5 stars No More Poly Carts. It's Steel For Me.
This hose cart is light years beyond those poly hose carts that cost 30 to fifty dollars and last a year or two. I just replaced one that is less that a year old with thes Lewis Steel Hose Cart.
The cart is ruggedly built and comes with a high quality leader hose. The metal connections all look and feel substantial.

3.0 out of 5 stars Yard Butler HT-2EZ Garden Hose Truck 2-Wheeled

We have had several hose trucks/hose reels over the years. We like this one better than most. The connection point where the garden hose connects to the reel is one of the best I have seen. It allows for smooth curling of the hose around the reel without kinking or bending the hose. There are two things I would do differently if I designed the truck. The front of the hose truck has "U" shaped metal tubing that rests on the surface to help stableize the unit. This is not a good design because it allows contact with the surface which will wear the paint off the metal and cause the metal to rust. Ruber bumpers would help with that problem. The wheels are mounted using nuts and bolts through some thin metal tubing. If the cart is moved much at all this will be a weak spot. Thicker tubing and a solid rod from one wheel to the other would solve the problem.

Putting the cart together was a little problematic even though there are few pieces. It took more effort and time to screw on the crank handle than I would have imagined. For some reason the threads just wouldn't mesh or connect. After finally getting the handle on I noticed that the crank was bent inward didn't make a full revolution because it hit the framework after each half turn.

A manufacturer's rep, reached using the 800 number provided, was very courteous and suggested I try to bend the handle out manually. She thought it must have been bent inward during transport. Fortunately the handle bending strategy worked and the cart works well.

This cart may hold two hundred feet of hose, but it barely contains my two hundred feet of hose. My hoses are 5/8" and heavy. Two hundred feet of cheaper hose will fit on the reel easily.

The hose connections are leak free and the crank turns with minimal effort. Despite the assembly problems, I like this cart and would buy it again.
Be aware that the pneumatic tires must be inflated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, April 8, 2009

I am glad I read the reviews before I started to assemble the cart. I too had a difficult time threading the handle. The crank was also bent inward and wouldn't allow a full revolution. I did bend it back manually; but that was no easy task. Considering the force it took to bend it, I doubt this happened during transportation.
Now that it is ready to go, I love it. The work was worth it.

The handle hits the body. When I bent it so it would clear the body, the paint cracked and fell off. Also, balance isn't right--very difficult to begin to move when loaded with heavy hose.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll Have it For Life, and Never Have to Replace It!, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Yard Butler HT-2EZ 2-Wheeled Garden Hose Truck with 200-Foot Hose Capacity (Lawn & Patio)
This product is very well made; soldered joints, solid wheels that can be filled with air (not the cheap solid rubber tires), and it never leaked even when cranking up the water pressure. This is replacing a plastic caddy whose handle it too low (unless you are 4' tall and can hunch over to wheel it) and cracked.

I only had one small inconvenience. When trying to attach the handle, some solder slag got accidentally deposited on the screw threads and had to be carefully machined. After that was done, assembling was a breeze and it works beautifully! Such a joy; a well-mad product that actually works properly. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a hose reel that won't break, September 8, 2008

I know why they call this a Hose Truck. It is built really sturdy and is all steel. I have really high water pressure at my house and this has never leaked a drop. It easily holds my 200 feet of hose and winds up even easier.

I got tired of breaking the plastic hose reels every year and decided to take a chance on a higher cost unit. This one is really worth the price tag. The water connector is aluminum and will never rust and the heavy duty pneumatic tires drive right over the roughest parts of my yard.

If you are tired of cheap plastic junk that breaks, this is the hose reel for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not hold 200 feet of hose!!!!!, October 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yard Butler HT-2EZ 2-Wheeled Garden Hose Truck with 200-Foot Hose Capacity (Lawn & Patio)
The description of this items states that it has a "200-Foot Hose Capacity." Don't beleive it! It comfortably holds 100 feet of hose, but little more. It is absolutely impossible to get 200 feet of hose on this truck--- at least if your using a quality hose.

I have no idea of why the manuafacturer would want to mislead purchasers on this point. I have previously bought trucks that advertise a 200 foot capacity that hold 200 feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yard Butler Hose Truck HT-2EZ Quality Tool, June 26, 2009

This review is from: Yard Butler HT-2EZ 2-Wheeled Garden Hose Truck with 200-Foot Hose Capacity (Lawn & Patio)
Arrived intact without any bent pieces as described by other reviewers. Easy assembly, quality product. Absolutely no drips when hose attached and pressurized, unlike those cheap plastic big box home center reels. Another plus--this 200-foot capacity reel has a smaller footprint than plastic reels. Rolls easily across the lawn, nicely balanced. Very pleased with this purchase!

Unit was missing four screws. Supplier then sent the wrong replacement parts. When correct parts finally arrived, I discovered that the hose reel was poorly aligned at a welded joint.

I ordered this item based on reviews on this site and my own experience with plastic products. I love it,it's easy to reel and move around the garden to different outlets. There was a problem that one of wheels was out of round, but having read in a review that customer service did give service, I gave them a call. I was asked to send photos, which I did (they wanted to make sure the problem was with the wheel and not with the frame) and immediately received an email that, although the defect would not affect the performance of the hose truck they would be happy to replace it. Received my replacement wheel a few days later. Couldn't be happier.
