5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Rake You Will Ever Need!, May 18, 2009

The Garden Rose (~Always In The Garden~) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yard Butler World's Greatest Shrub Rake LT-8 (Lawn & Patio)
I ordered this rake because it is supposed to be for under shrubs and to use in tight places. I have a very narrow walk area, behind a fence that stays leaf covered, so I figured I would give it a try. OH MY! I must say this rake Yard Butler World's Greatest Shrub Rake #LT-8 is unbelievable in it's performance. Not only does it actually do what it is supposed to do, but is so easy and comfortable to use it may be the only rake you will ever want. Small? Yes. But is so easy to use that it makes quick work of jobs that would take hours with a regular rake. The spring back action is what sets this rake apart. Now if you have a big job...say a whole yard...the company also makes a larger rake that has the same wonderful spring back action Yard Butler World's Greatest Rake #LT-20. Am I pleased with this rake? Yes, indeed! Why not grab one for your yard and make an easy job of raking. The Garden Rose says: You won't be disappointed.

This rake exceeded my expectations. It had good reviews and is as described. It is well made and really does a good job. If you are small framed or prefer a smaller rake you will NOT be disappointed.

I bought it to rake in tight corners around a bubbling fountain. I then used it to "comb" leaves out of perennial plants and grasses, as well as out of my jasmine. Very useful!

4.0 out of 5 stars Shrub Rake to the Rescue!, February 7, 2012

This unusual specialty rake has only 8 tines and is 8 inches wide. It is designed for narrow spaces. I have a 9-inch waterway under my crepe myrtle trees along a fence. I have been crawling around on my knees, using a 3-inch garden claw or scooping out debris with gloved hands, a glutton for punishment. Well, no more. I decided enough is enough, there has got to be an easier way.

This rake will get you off your knees and save time. It can rake up pine needles with no problem. Its base will bend parallel to the ground, forming a 90 degree angle with its handle (L-shape). I have never before handled a rake that was this flexible! It is great for spreading mulch around. It is so gentle and sensitive that it can rake a layer of leaves off of eucalyptus bark mulch.

It does not rate a full 5 stars because of its construction when compared with my trusty old 18-inch metal rake. I have owned it for over 30 years, using it for heavy tree yard work and hurricane cleanups. The Yard Butler's handle could use another layer of lacquer. My old rake's wooden handle is smoother. There is no additional protective metal casing on the Yard Butler covering the nuts that attach the metal head to the wooden handle. The vertical spring coil braces are missing, allowing for that extraordinary flexibility, but sacrificing strength and durability. Product made in Mexico.

Not all rakes are alike and this one is great for what it is meant to do - get behind and between those troublesome shrubs and bushes that surround the house. No problems what-so-ever.
