HOW EASY!,

I read about this lawn mower in Consumer Reports, I ordered it from Amazon (which seemed odd to me, but realized they'd deliver it to my door). I put it together (requires very little set-up), and it worked. For a mower that isn't self-propelled, it's light weight and easy to handle. It may be called a Yard-Man, but it's also good for a Yard-Woman. The only problem is that is works best for a right-handed person. It's impossible to pull the starter with your left hand. Fortunately it started easily.

Recently, my trusty old lawn mower bit the dust (pun intended) so I began shopping for a new mower. I tried all of the local home improvement stores, department stores and even a couple of huge volume discont places, but everything was overpriced (in my humble opinion). I turned to the Internet and my favorite search engine for guidance. After a few clicks I had an idea of the average price for a 6.5HP, 21" power mower, and it was much lower than the local stores. I clicked a link for a mower that seemed like the best choice and to my surprise, I was taken to Amazon dot com. I had no idea that I could buy garden equipment at Amazon and that they would be the lowest price--so i bought it.A few weeks later the mower arrived and I assembled it in no time flat. Curious about the quality and performance of my new mower, I rushed out to cut my lawn now in much need of a trim. The instruction manual said to pump the prime button three times and pull the starter cord. I was a bit skeptical because my old, but obssessively maintained mower required about 5-7 primes and then a pull or two to start. I primed the Yardman per the manual, pulled once and vroooom it started right up. The first thing that I noticed was the quietness of the 6.5HP motor. Second, the Yardman cut the neglected lawn effortlessly and cleanly without leaving any random sprouts. It performed so well and fast on my small front lawn that I decided to tackle the larger back yard. Again, the Yardman effortlessly flew through my 4" scaggly mess of St. Aguastine. In about 35 minutes I was finished with both lawns and my first "cold one." I highly recommend this mower for anyone with a modest to good-size lawn. It cut the St. Agustine and Bermuda grasses with little effort and great precision. My only disappointment with my purchase was the variance from the estimated date of delivery. For reasons unknown to me, Amazon or Yardman delayed my order by a week or so and Amazon even offered to cancel the order and refund my money. But who am I to complain about shipping dates, especially after Amazon threw in free shipping on this huge and heavy box? I will just keep beieving that the dealy was due to a shortage of Yardman mowers that was caused by an army of smart shoppers like me who know a true value (no pun intended this time) when we see one.

Consumer Reports was correct--this product is definitely a best buy. I am very happy with the service, delivery, and the product itself.

I ordered this mower through Amazon and when it arrived, the shipping box was intact with no visible damage whatsoever. I unloaded it and poured in the included oil. I fired her up and she began spitting out oil everywhere. I bent down to check the engine and low and behold there was a large 3" gash in my engine! It was huge! UPS left it, so I can't refuse shipment, (aside from the fact I already put oil and gas into it), amazon won't take it back, and the local MTD authorized repair shop won't fix this under warranty because they say it looks like shipping damage! Now what?I did order a YardMan Snowblower last year and had absolutely NO trouble with it whatsoever and am very happy with it. I am not sure I will ever order another item such as this online, especially from amazon as it is too much trouble to deal with in case something is wrong.

I am thrilled with how easily this mower starts (one pull). We had to get rid of our Sears model because it was too difficult to start. The only disappointment is that is does not roll backward very easily (which can make it hard to manuver in tight spaces) and my husband thought the plastic felt a little cheap. Other than that we are thrilled with the job it does.

One Monday evening I decided that my Craftsman just wasn't cutting it anymore, as it seemed to drink all of the oil I kept putting into it. I came inside and without hesitation ordered this mower - and it was delivered fairly promptly (free shipping I might add). The FedEx delivered it right to my garage.I was familiar with the name b/c I saw a Yard Man Tractor at Costco, so I figured I'd go with a smaller mower for the lawn I have. For less than $200 this mower is awesome and a steal. Don't spend extra money on a self propelled mower, as this mower is VERY light-weight (probably 40 pounds or so) and is easy to push - and cuts the grass into tiny shreds - making for less bag emptying. You don't even need to push the "cold start" button - it fires up right away - If you are looking for a great mower at a great value, BUY THIS ONE! If you are looking to show up your neighbors with a nicer mower than theirs, either buy a more expensive one with functions you will never use or buy this one and replace the plastic wheels with Shiny-Steel rims.

YardMan Push Mower,

This review is from: Yard-Man 11A-435D701 6.5-HP Yard-Man 3-in-1 Push Mower (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this push mower with the purpose of cutting around my 1 acre fish pond. A grass trimmer does a good job, but it throws too much grass clippings into the water. With the grass catcher installed, I couldn't believe how much grass clippings & leaves this mower collected in the rear bag - it like a vacuum. The Yard-Man mower I bought is basically the same as this one, except with 14" rear wheels (high wheel version)Pros: Easy Starting, light Weight, Pushes Forward Easy, Price Cons: Not as easy to roll backwards because of rear flap guard.

While this mower will not "cut any thing you can push it into" as another reviewer said, it does do a very good job at a very good price. It starts easily and I can use it without asking my husband to prep it or prestart it to warm it up before I take it off to the Nevada outback to do a little cutting. I can't use it on rough terrain and it chokes on some of the big nasty weeds that grow around the edges of my garden beds but even a gas string trimmer has some difficulty with those. I like the clean lines and the simple operation of this mower. It isn't as noisy as our old one and the mulching feature is nice enough that we use this tool once in a while on the lawn instead of the riding mower (which doesn't mulch) Overall, based on price and features, I would recommend this mower over all the others offered in the same price range at the time we purchased it.
