Next, the lever that adjusts the height won't stay in place and the mower deck keeps falling to the lowest height setting.

I just ordered this model and it was delivered about 11 days later via UPS. I bought it because of the 160cc GVC Honda engine. I had a Honda self propelled mover that never failed to start over a 5 year period. I've owned several mowers in my 54 years and have never had that kind of track record with the american manufactured engines.

This mower also has the standard features of bagging or mulching; But when the grass is thick and wet this side discharge feature is nice to have. Side discharge is not available Honda brand mowers I've seen.

The web picture attached caused me a bit of confusion (the picture is of a single speed model) the model number for the VARIABLE SPEED DRIVE is "AVD" so verify the model number has "AVD" in it if not then that mower may be single speed. This mower's cluch handle for controlling the variable speed drive is V shaped handles at the center of the hand grip so you can control with either Left or Right Hands. The LARGER rear wheels are also a plus.

Assembly was a snap, just follow the procedures (oil, 4 bolts, gasoline, and tighten 2 tie wraps). If your a handyman that don't follow the procedures...here's a tip, the handle bars pull/slide out of the mower deck about 8 inches to put the handlebar carriage bolts in. It sumped me for a few minutes, (the wheels were in the way of the holes). Initial startup took about 5 chokes to get the fuel into the lines after that it started up first pull every time while mowing my lawn.

An aditional feature that I didn't know of until it arrived; all four wheels adjust for height by a knob like handle on the left side. No need to adjust each wheel. Very nice feature.

I've had this mower for almost two years now (as of this update March 2013), and overall I am very happy with it. I really like the rear wheel drive with the larger rear wheels. Amazon had the wrong picture of this mower at first, but the picture is correct now.

The mower starts on the first pull every time. The choke system is idiot proof. One thing that stands out about this mower is the air filter. It's nothing special. It has the same filter that is on the Briggs and Stratton mower that I am replacing. The air filter on the Briggs motor would need to be cleaned twice during one lawn mowing. There is a more dirt and dust where I live, no doubt. But the same filter on the Honda motor doesn't need to be cleaned until the job is done, and even then the filter is half as dirty as one cleaning of the Briggs motor filter. I surmise that it has something to do with the position of the filter that makes it run so much cleaner on the Honda.

I don't have any regrets about buying this mower. It is doing the job and it is not difficult to operate.

I'm kind of surprised at the one and two star reviews of this mower. Some buyers have commented about starting problems that I bet have more to do with old gasoline than anything else. If you are going to store the mower for the winter then you need to add fuel stabilizer or just drain the tank for the winter. Problem solved. Also don't use gas that has been stored for a long time unless you add fuel stabilizer before the gasoline gets old. This applies to all of your small engines. It does make a difference.

Purchased this lawnmower after doing hours and hours of research on different mowers, I went with this one because I wanted the Honda engine and the self propelled option. I am very happy I choose the self propelled even with a small yard it makes it real easy to mow the lawn in no time. It came down to this mower and the Husqvarna, the Yard-Man seemed to have better reviews so that is why I decided on it. The mower in the picture is not the model you will get (see the other reviews) it is an upgraded model with a variable speed on the self propelled option. To see the model Google search "Yard-Man 12AVD39Q701" the right pic will come up. It came in 2 days via UPS and was very easy to assemble took maybe 30 minutes, filled it with gas and oil and started on the first pull. I only have used it once but I love it so far

We purchased this mower to replace our old Yard Man mower that finally gave out after 13 years of faithful use. It arrived quickly and was simple to assemble. However, after only 3 uses it started to have issues. The rear drive transmission wouldn't disengage upon release of the levers. We could let go of the mower completely and it would drive off! This made using it difficult and dangerous. My husband had to diassemble and reassemble part of the mower to get to functioning normally again. The upper and lower drive brackets also broke shortly after purchase with normal use. When we tried to contact the manufacturer to see about getting it repaired under warranty that part of their automated system was down and there is no way to get through to a live person. We ended up ordering the replacement parts and paying for them (another $27) in addition to the $300+ dollars for this mower. Needless to say, we are very disappointed in this mower and do not recommend it. It is of poor construction and there appears to be no customer service available to help when there are issues. Buyer beware!!
