When I saw this item and read the 2 prior, more glowing reviews I was thrilled as we were looking for one of these. Sadly, once it arrived it quickly became evident that this item was not built with quality or durability in mind. Without even assembling the item you get the sense it's very cheaply made. All the supplied hardware is plastic, and most all the places where 2 parts meet it's plastic meeting plastic (save the thin metal handles). Brushes are big plastic "combs". The catcher bag is thin tarp material and is very small- if you use this for leaf pickup unless your yard is 10x10 if you have even a couple of trees you will be emptying this every few steps. When I unpacked it the bag already had unstitched or torn in the corners. My sense is that after a few uses this thing will be useless-one crack in the plastic where there is stress under use and it will be at the curb with the rest of the trash. Save the money-even for light duty, I would not recommend. We sent ours back today. First item I have ever sent back to Amazon. Maybe one day I will find an old used one from the 70s at a garage sale-one that's made of metal and canvas with a LARGE catcher that will stand up to the task. Gave it 2 stars instead of one since it may actually pick items up-though we never tried.

This item was shipped quickly. I was very happy to see it was made in Israel and was not the usual Chinese junk. My hopes were quickly dashed. As expected it was mainly plastic except for the tubular handle which was very lightweight and felt flimsy. The screws supplied were of very good quality and the nuts were compression type even if the smallest I have ever seen.Assembly was fairly easy but I would reccommend reading the instructions carefully before starting as some parts are location specific. I would advise keeping close track of the screws and nuts as they can stray easily and there are no spares. Their 30 minute assembly time was overly optimistic and a second set of hands would be helpful to install the handle. Once built it looked quite nice. Now the bad news. I bought this to clean up needles on my patio and driveway that conifers dump by the bushel. Also a few leaves on 3 inch high grass on rough ground. I am of an age that the constant sweeping in the heat is not very good for me. The brushes are actually plastic fingers that are not very flexible. There are 4 sets mounted 2 per side on a rotating bar. The unit has plastic runners that rest on the ground and the bag is glossy slick plastic on the bottom and flimsy plastic sides that rests on the ground also. There is no top. When I first used it on the patio it would pick up nothing as the plastic fingers on the lowest setting were 1/4 " above the surface and not flexible enough. The handle was easy to flex and the runners and bag dragging on the ground were irritating and meant they would wear quickly. If you lifted them up to clear the ground it increased the heighth of the brushes from the ground. I then tried it on the grassy area and it worked a little better. It would pick up the leaves but took several passes to get most of them and in the process several of the plastic fingers were bent irreparably. It was obvious the handle would not survive very long unless used very infrequently. Since disassembling it and paying for return postage were not cost effective I threw it in the trash. I thought of filling the bag with potting soil and using it as a planter, but it would take up too much room. Losing this much money is a real hardship for me. A real shame as with a little thought this could have been a real winner. The product was engineered well but made too cheaply. Using true brushes, nylon or otherwise, would guarantee it would pick up almost anything and would not be prone to bending. This would not be terribly expensive. Putting rollers on or in the ends of the runners would be a major improvement and would not add much to the cost. Making a semi enclosed bag would mean it could be shortened and not have to drag on the ground. It would also be easier to empty. I would advise you think carefully before purchasing and take the negative reviews to heart.

The yard sweeper was easy to put together and I was excited to use it. Once outside I realized the capacity of the bin was very small and had to empty the bin four times for just a 5 foot section of my yard. It would have taken the entire weekend and about 50 trash bags to do just my front yard using the yard sweeper you would be better off doing it the old fashion way with a rake or using your lawn mower. Don't waste your money.
