This review is from: Yeah, So (MP3 Download)
I first heard their song "Apples and Pairs" on "United States of Tara" closing credits. I liked it so much I tracked down the artists and listened to their other offerings. I loved those also and accidentally bought an electronic version and an actual CD. And I'm actually not too frustrated at my mistake. It's just the guy and girl in the band--he plays the guitar, she plays the drum, and they both sing. It's sometimes listed under "folk" but I think it's more "alternative." It's very positive and pretty mellow. Buy it and have lots of fun!

Recently I've found myself getting a bit into indie and folk music. This is the first folk album I have bought, and I love it. I can listen the whole album without wanting to skip at all. No duds! I hate albums with duds. Even the bonus tracks are really good, in fact my favorite song, Christmas TV, is off the bonus disc.
I realize this style of music isn't for everyone, but I definitely recommend checking this album out.

If you already love "Yeah, So", the bonus CD is just an added plus. The additional produced tracks (1-4) are everything you'd expect from Slow Club, yet lack the predictability of the rest of the album. They keep the essence of "Yeah, So", however each of them has its own sweet intricacies and uniquenesses which set it apart from the rest. Beyond those four, the live tracks are excellent--and I'm usually not one to enjoy a live album. Instead of being 2nd rate versions that detract from the originals, the live tracks often build upon what is in the recorded versions, with slight tweaks. The result is an intimate, emotionally-charged view of the songs, stripped down but not oversimplified, showing the sheer musical talent both Rebecca and Charles posses. In fact, many of them even outshine the originals. With the great price, and a bonus CD including some of Slow Club's greatest songs yet, along with outstanding live versions, this is a perfect time to add "Yeah, So" to your CD collection.
