In one word:HILARIOUS!,
By RaveGyrl (Chicago, Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
Late Night with Conan O'Brien is the most cleverly written and funniest shows on tv. Now they came out with this book based on their popular skit-In The Year 2000. This book is brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing. There were some instances where I had to put the book down, because I was laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes. I'm a huge fan of the show and when I heard about this book I rushed out the next day and got it. Fan of Conan or not if you want a great comedy book and laugh the entire time you're reading it this is the book to get.

A hilarious book,
By A Customer
This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
The content and jokes of this book are hilarious, as they are on the TV show. I would reccomend this book to anybody, regardless of whether or not they are a Conan O'Brien fan. The only reason I didn't give it a fifth star is because the jokes aren't quite as funny as they are when a professional comedian (Andy or Conan) is speaking them. Still, though, a great book.

Conan, The Master of Smart "Stupid" Comedy,
By
This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
Conan is the master of taking the stupidest, most puerile material and turning it into smart, pure comic gold. This is a very rare skill: the only other masters I can think of right now are Steve Martin and Mel Brooks. The "predictions" in this book are so outrageous, and so on target that they will leave you gasping for breath. Go out and buy this book now! Don't let "the masturbating bear" frighten you.

A Funny Book!,

This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
In The Year 2000 is one of my favorite skits on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, so I just had to buy this book. I am glad I did, it is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Even if you never saw the show before, or this skit, I highly recommend getting this book, I guaranty you'll laugh! I also recommend that you watch the skit on Late Night, although Andy Richter is no longer there, In The Year 2000 is still extremely funny.

Back to the future, Conan style,
This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
With a publication date of 1999, "In the Year 2000" is a collection of absurd predictions about what was then the near future. Written by Conan O'Brien and the writers of his "Late Night" TV show, the book is often laugh-out-loud funny.Conan and crew cover a lot of topics with these humorous "prophecies": technological advances, world politics, encounters with extraterrestrial life, changes in the vernacular language, etc. Many different celebrities are satirically skewered: Jodie Foster, the Pope, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, Gerald Ford, Kathie Lee Gifford, etc, etc.--Conan and crew prove themselves truly bipartisan, equal opportunity mockers. If you enjoy Conan's TV routine of the same name, I predict that you will enjoy this book. It's scathing, raunchy, witty, surreal, and a lot of fun.

Funny book celebrating a funny sketch on Conan's "Late Night" show. Not all of the jokes are lough-out-loud funny, but a few are clear home runs. My favorite one is the one about Bigfoot.
But another reviewer was right -- buy this book used and save a few bucks. It will make a difference in your perceived value for the money.

AGAIN!,
By A Customer
This review is from: In the Year 2000 (Paperback)
Even if you are not a fan of 'Late Night', 'In The Year 2000' will still be hilariously funny. Being a long time viewer of the show, the book was enhanced by my previuos knowledge of the skit. I agree with the reader from Boston though: it is not quite as funny without Conan or Andy reading the predictions. Regardless, I still gave the book five stars.:o)
