I am excited about this book and wanted to get a review out on it right away. The book is a devotion per day which consists of a bible verse, a short story/example that elaborates on God's message in the verse, and a short activity where the child can put the lesson into practice. Each devotion is short - 1 page per day, and the activites are simple (no elaborate materials needed) and may be simply making a phone call or drawing a picture. I think it will be great for my 4 yr old over the next year!I am planning to actually read the verse from the bible, though, rather than from the book, so she knows where it is coming from and to introduce her to reading the bible.

Our 5 year old loves this book and the activities listed with each daily devotion. Written very clearly for kids and easy to understand.

Almost perfect...,
This review is from: The One Year Book of Fun & Active Devotions for Kids (Paperback)
I love this book -- I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old and we're on our second time through this book. Some questions are fantastic and timely but others are just plain odd, like "why isn't a dollar worth a dollar anymore"??? But even with the odd ones, the answers are very well written -- it could use a bit more context on the ones like "why did God send ten plagues to Egypt (something like that)" and maybe some more creative activities, but it's still hands down one of the best devotionals I've read.

I looked through this book, before presenting it to my grandkids, it is full of life learning messages with scripture, a short message, and a chance for the kids to answer a question or make a statement. My Son called after they went home & they had the chance to look it over, he thought it was opportunity to have a family discussion based on the devotions daily. In todays world the kids need a positive outlook. I would reccomend to anyone with young kids.

Good Bible reading experience for a 6-7 year old. Activities are connected with Bible verses. Real life experiences. The activities make it a FIVE.

This is a great book! My children are 10,8, and 6 years old. Every day's devotion is very relevant to things going on in their lives. Each day begins with a question and a Bible verse. Then the answer to the question is given along with an activity. We normally do not follow through with the activity because we read these devotions before school. This is not the only Bible time we have during our day, but it's a perfect start before beginning a school day. Here are sample questions from the book:
Is it OK to hit my brother back if he hit me first? Does God see everything that we do? How come people get the flu when God is watching over them? Who created God? If I break something that belongs to someone else but fix it, do I have to tell what I did? What should I do when kids are mean to me? Is it OK to slam the door when you're mad? I hope this helps you make your decision about this book. We love it!

I got this book hoping to have a fun and simple daily devotion to do with my 2 boys ages 3 and 5. Since the description said 4-6 year olds I thought this would work just great (at least for my 5 year old) but when I got the book I noticed on the back it said for 6-10 year olds. Wow! Way out of my kids age group. I looked through it and could see right away that the material was for much older children. Looked good though, just not for the ages I was expecting.

We have three children ages 3 to 7 and this has been a great book for us! The stories are short and activites easy to execute without much planning. The stories have sparked further conversations and they ask every night to do our "bible study". We haven't gone just by the dates.. have picked and chosen ones more specific to what our kids are going through or doing. Great pick for a family with varying ages of young children!
