Great diverse rock lives,
This review is from: Year of the Knife (Audio CD)
This cd starts off with 4 straight ahead good southern rock songs. Come on baby was free with classic rock magazines southern rock issue & I purchased it on the strength of this alone. From track five Mexico onwards the album becomes much more diverse. Mexico has a more bluesy country physcodelic sound and the cd doesnt let up from there onwards. If you put Guns & Roses, Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, The Doors, Bob Segar and Steve Earle all in a blender this is what you might get. A strange mixture but it works. If I had to liken Santeria to another artist or band I would say Shooter Jennings due to the fact they incorporate many different styles into there southern tinged rock sound like Shooter does. The fact that this cd was self released & produced doesnt alter the quality of the music within. Buy this cd if you love good unusual rock music & you wont be dissapointed. I especialy love the physcodelic aspect of its sound. This cds become one of my favourites.
