Wickedly sexy and fun,
By Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Year of Living Shamelessly (Mass Market Paperback)
The Year of Living Shamelessly by Susanna Carr is wickedly sexy and funny.
Good girl Katie Kramer has made the same New Year's resolution regarding Ryder Scott. She vows to have him see her as a woman and to have a wild fling with him. But she has to overcome Ryder seeing her as her brother's little sister. Katie makes a drastic makeover and channels her inner bad girl. Poor Ryder won't know what hit him. Ryder Scott always kept an eye on Katie Kramer. He always rode to her rescue numerous times. Her family was the one bright and shinny part of his world growing up. Ryder won't do anything to change their feelings towards him. He wasn't prepared for the new hot and sexy Katie who is willing to travel to the dark side of sex. When Katie finds out that Ryder is leaving town in less then a week, she knows she has to give seducing him everything she has and then some. Ryder at first is leery about losing their friendship but once that line is crossed there is no going back. Will Ryder be able to forgive Katie when he finds out he was a New Year's resolution? The Year of Living Shamelessly is sensational. The chemistry between Ryder and Kate sizzles on every page. The friendship and family dynamic really plays a huge role in this book and it's well written. Susanna Carr is a must read for me and this book delivers on all points.

This was a great find while browsing the reviews on romance books. And although there are only five, now six, reviews this book was wonderful! The value of entertainment you get for the price is amazing.

engaging contemporary erotic romance,
This review is from: The Year of Living Shamelessly (Mass Market Paperback)
Katie Kramer has loved Ryder Scott since they attended high school together. However, she knows her feelings are unrequited as he thinks of her as his best friend Jake's kid sister. Every year since high school she makes the same New Year's resolution to seduce him, but each year the sweet but naive Katie fails to even try as she cannot compete with the kinky competition that he seems to always have at his beck and call.
However, this year, the dynamics are changing. Ryder announces he is leaving town. This is probably her last chance. Katie must shed the good girl image and prove she can out kink the king of kink; unaware of why he is leaving town. This is an engaging contemporary erotic romance starring two likable lead characters. Kissable Katie is terrific as the good girl who plans each year to tie up Ryder, but only gets rope burns; this is her last chance and she goes for it. Fans will root for the courageous heroine as she takes her last stand hopefully in her mind and libido lying down tied to Riley's bed posts. Harriet Klausner

I fell in love with this book quickly! It was the first real romance novel I have read and I couldnt put it down. The characters are very easy to understand and love. I related to Katie so much that when she felt lust, I felt lust, when she felt betrayed, I felt betrayed. Ryder is also very easy to fall in love with!My only problem with this book is some of the plot didnt seem realistic to me. They lived in such a small town that everyone knew everyone and everyones dirt and everyone ate at the same small restaurants and yet they threw huge wild parties during the holidays where it was normal for everyone to go and act crazy. It didnt make much sense to me. Also, the fact that so many people were into bondage was a little weird also. You dont find many people like that living in a small town. Other than that, I loved the book and the plot. I was sad when I knew it was about to end, and I am already looking forward to re-reading it one day.

Had such good possibilities...,

My Review:
For the past three years, Katie's New Year's resolution has been to have an affair with the love of her life, Ryder. Ryder is her brother's best friend and she has been in love with him for 11 years, but at this point she would be happy to settle with an affair with the hopes of it becoming something more. This year Katie attacked that resolution with an entire makeover. While that has helped her popularity with other guys, it hasn't really affected Ryder on the surface. Now it is December 24th and Katie has found out that Ryder is moving across the world on the 1st, so she has 8 days to convince him that they are a good combination. What she doesn't realize is that Ryder is moving to escape the temptation of her, because he is just as in love with her as she is with him, but he respects the Kramer family too much to make a move on her. There were moments that this book was really good and it did always stay highly entertaining throughout the entire book. I read it in a single sitting, but it was also really frustrating to read. While I liked the characters, there was a lot of the time, I simply could not understand why they were acting the way that they were. I liked the premise of this book...on the surface, but it just didn't seem to play out the way that it should. At moments, the characters seemed bi-polar in their back and forth about their relationship and feelings for each other. They are supposedly friends, but they don't know how to read each other at all and the only way for them to get together seems to be through subterfuge. I just couldn't find myself believing the quality of their relationship or their ability to make it last. It was an entertaining read, but it had the possibilities of being so much better.

the cover was as good as the book,
This review is from: The Year of Living Shamelessly (Mass Market Paperback)
I was weary picking up this book, as sometimes an enticing cover can mean it is lacking in content. This did not.
I was afraid it would be too cute, too safe and tame, much like a tv show and while it did have those elements in some ways, the story was well developed and so were the characters. The sex scenes and dialogue were hot, and it had that perfect balance of romance and sex which I always enjoy. I highly recommend this title.

Katie has always wanted one man her entire life. Ryder. He's her brother's best friend, has always looked out for her, and is hot. Katie decides she needs to take action and really get Ryder to notice her. She does all these things magazines tell women to do to get Ryder's attention during the year. For the last couple of years, she's made him her New Year's resolution, but when she finds out he's moving, she's got less than a week to finally have sex with him and hopefully a future.
Ryder has always thought of Kaite as a little sister, but one day things changed for him and he falls in love with her. He's kept his feelings inside for years and wants to make it a little longer until he's free to move and get away from Katie. After she changed her behavior over the past year, Ryder has found it hard to keep his dirty thoughts about Katie to himself and inches closer to wanting to take her to bed. But she is his best friend's little sister and he thinks she deserves better than him so a life with her might not be in his future. The book was pretty good. Katie and Ryder had some great chemistry. Katie was funny and smart and Ryder was sexy and protective. At times I got tired of reading their names and thought the author could have just said he or she. Sometimes it seemed like the same thing was said over and over but in a different way. Katie was determined to be with Ryder and he wanted to be with her also, but to create conflict Ryder was holding back on acting on his feelings. I really didn't think his reasons for not allowing them to have a relationship were that big of a deal, but it was understandable how he felt. After finishing the book I wasn't thrilled about paying over 12 dollars for it, but it still turned out to be pretty good and almost worth the price.

I have never read anything by this author before. I will from now on. It was sensational. The chemistry was steamy, and the characters were so down to earth. The story was great from the very beginning.
