Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Leeds follows her successful One Year to an Organized Life with advice on preparing for a new addition to the family. From personal finances, junk drawers, and birth plans, to building a feng shui nursery, telling the office about your "condition," and creating a routine around bathroom cleaning, Leeds covers it all. Week-by-week tasks provide clear, realistic goals for the determined mother-to-be, and some weeks involve simply thinking about organizing or creating routines. The emphasis here is on the difficult choices that have to be made, and the logistics behind making them. For instance, indispensible advice about a baby's material needs will save new mothers from last-minute runs to the mall. Leeds even discusses how to maintain or grow relationships-with family, friends, and other mothers. An oft-overlooked aspect of creating a family is the personal conflicts that can result; too many mothers realize that friendships and romance are the first to go. But Leeds offers strategies to ensure that new parents maintain their friends-and their love life. Leeds will likely change the thinking of many a wood-be parent: being organized is actually far easier than the alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! March 21, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I admit it-- I'm an organizational nerd. So maybe it's not a surprise that I found this book so helpful as I get ready for the birth of my first baby. On the same hand, I can also see this book being helpful for those who are more of a free spirit. The authors take an almost holistic approach to getting organized, with a focus on nurturing yourself and those around you. I found it very comforting to know that there were things I could do today, while pregnant, to make my life easier when baby finally arrives.

Although I discovered this book when 37 weeks pregnant, I've still found a lot of great ideas and organizing inspiration by paging ahead and reviewing previous sections of the book (it's written with organizational "assignments" for each week of pregnancy). I also love that the first 20 weeks postpartum are also covered with reasonable goals for a mom taking care of a newborn. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Baby Steps for Organizing Before Baby January 14, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded the free kindle sample and liked it enough to actually spend the money on the book. I find the organizational tools and prompts to be helpful, and not overwhelming to this tired pregnant mother. I like seeing the progress on things that I need to get done anyway, and having the book "coach" me each week. As I received the book at 25 weeks pregnant, a lot that could have been done sooner hasn't been done. I like the author's suggestion to just start where you are, and go back to previous weeks as you have the energy when the topic of organization is important.
