3.0 out of 5 stars Important but out dated, thus 3 stars not 5
This book was published before the theft of Nuclear secrets to China but it shows how Bill Clinton and Al Gore bent over backwards to the Chinese who were funding their campaign. However it gives insight to the connection before Wen Ho Lee and the Los Alamos scandal.

companion books to buy would be Absolute Power or any book by Ann Coulter and Barbara Olson.

The book...

This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
In "Year of the Rat", Edward Timperlake and William Triplett present quite an incriminating case against Clinton and Gore. The authors simply state the facts. When they do not have all the facts, they make mention of it. They do not try to directly persuade the reader, they let the facts speak for themselves. They show how Clinton has betrayed the American people on numerous occasions, from his early days as a young Arkansas politician, all the way to the 1996 election and beyond.

Why hasn't this incident received the coverage from the media that it rightfully deserves? Why haven't more individuals been brought to justice? While it is true that nearly all potential witnesses have either died, fled the country, or pleaded the 5th, I still feel that much more effort should be made to prosecute and punish the guilty parties.

Americans have become immune to the dishonesty of politicians. Manipulation and deceit have become so commonplace that people just don't seem to care anymore. The popular view is that it is ok to tell a lie as long as you are not caught. If the means justify the ends, then telling a lie is ok. I am not a fan of William Bennett, but maybe he does have a good point when he describes the present- day situation as "the death of outrage".

Mr. Clinton now rivals Richard Nixon as the most dishonest man to ever occupy the White House. The only difference between the two is that Nixon was caught. Clinton has not been formally accused and brought to trial for his treasonous conduct, but that doesn't make his crimes any less serious.

Chinagate is a serious matter that deserves more attention that it has received. Forget the Monica Lewinsky debacle. This is the scandal that really matters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Clinton Administration Is Guilty Of Treason, November 26, 2001
By

This review is from: Year of the Rat (Paperback)
Timperlake and Triplett tell us clearly and conclusively why Bill Clinton is absolutely guilty of treason. Forget the myriad of other "gates", this is the mother of all scandals: treason by the President of the United States. To find out that Clinton and his minions are responsible for possibly endangering the very existence of this nation by allowing security secrets to be given and sold to communist China is beyond belief. If someone proposed this as a Hollywood script, he would be laughed out of town. But once again with this administration, truth is stranger than fiction. Just as complicit are the mainstream media and Democratic leaders who have helped cover-up, obstruct, and spin this story so as to absolve the Clinton administration from blame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-researched and convincing, May 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
By trying to prove everything, the authors of this book did get a little too detailed and (by the end)almost dull. However, their major points are really irrefutable - it is impossible to deny the plain facts presented in the book that major foreign donors to the Clinton campaign later got incredible access to our national secrets. The evidence is all there - well-documented and painstakingly footnoted. I am not an anti-Clinton fanatic (voted for him first time around), and find a lot of the "conspiracy theories" ridiculous, however I could not help being convinced by this book. I think that anyone who reads it with an open mind will not be able to avoid coming to the conclusion that our national secrets are dangerously open to access by foreign powers (whether these powers are overtly hostile to us, or merely taking advantage of our secrets for business purposes is kind of irrelavent).

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget High Crimes this is "Treason", December 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
Every American owes it to themselves to read this book. Future generations will ask was Lewinsky more important than the " The Year of the Rat" One must come to the reality that the PRC thinks in terms of generations and decades not like we Americans who look at tomorrow as a future. Their clandestine work paid off in spades,China for years worked at inflitrating our system of Democracy,in the Universities, Press and Media Just look at their agents they sent from Asian nations who acted on their behalf. The book reads as a who's who in Corporate Asia. How about the Congressmen and women who we elect and so strongly support the China propaganda of open markets. Our leaders in Congress have sold out the American's in every trade policy for decades. No this is not a right wing review it is the truth Read this book before you regret not reading it. After spending trillions in defense of our nation since WWII the politicians sold out for pennies on the dollar. While Clinton professes that for the first time in years our children can go to bed knowing that their are no missles aimed at America He did forget to add that the USA's Loral and Hughes corporations made sure to make him a liar!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who is "partisan?", May 19, 1999
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
It's interesting to me that some people comment how the facts in this book have been refuted by the "mainstream press," considering that this book is a compilation of investigative work done by the New York Times. I have been reading the NY Times coverage of the China scandal since 1996, and am glad to see all of its damning evidence against the Clinton administration put together in one book. Also interesting to see the one-star reviewers say how "partisan" this book is while unable to refute any of the solid information it provides. It is thick reading, and actually doesn't cover as wide a time frame as I would like (Clinton's dealings with China started even before his presidency, in a December 1992 meeting between Bush, Clinton, and the Chinese prime minister), but other than that I thought it extremely well-done, thorough, and timely. The deep hollowing out that this president has done in two terms is staggering.

4.0 out of 5 stars good yet slanted, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
I found this to be an incredible book. The information in it, I feel is essential for all Americans. The writers however are not very good. They lack some of the refinement of others. The book builds in the style of a journal and it keeps adding more and more information in a way in which I think it loses some credibility. Also the "helpful" words written in large type only add to the feeling of right-wing propaganda. Still The authors present a compelling case which rings of truth

5.0 out of 5 stars Is treason still illegal in this country?, June 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
If treason is still an executable offense, why is Bill Clinton still breathing?

Maybe there's no hard signature to link him to the crimes, but this stuff could clearly not have happened without his direct knowledge and approval.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling, fascinating, and alarming, June 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
This is a must read for people who want to understand the ongoing Chinese espionage scandal and connect the dots back to the Clinton-Gore White House. I find it fascinating how history repeats itself and unpleasant truths are routinely driven from prime time TV in America. This book is primarily constructed from research that was supplemented, in fact even driven, by hundreds of newspaper stories from the front pages of the LA Times, NY Times and the Washington Post, not exactly bastions of fanatical, get-Clinton conservatism. My generation - the baby boomer generation - should understand something they may have forgotten. We are now the establishment. We are the majority who make the rules and decisions for our society. And the people from our generation that we elect are the gatekeepers for the freedoms so many before us have preserved. Has everyone forgotten the Vietnam fiasco and how difficult it was to get our parents to understand the futility and stupidity of pursuing that war? I haven't, and I fought there. If you want to do something to help America, read this book, think about what this means to all of us, and then vote against Al Gore for President. This Administration has to end - now - and it our responsibility to put in the time to understand what's wrong with it. Please take the time to read this book. I strongly recommend it. I would ask amacon.com to also screen these reviews more carefully because I have noticed in the past, attacks on opponents of the President who admit in their "review" that they haven't even read the book under discussion. I have read this book from cover to cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best unclassified resource exposing Clinton's hypcoricy, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
Every one who has read this book must be absolutely disgusted by the hypocricy of the White House and the manipulative filtering of news committed by the main stream media. The authors have layed out a very compelling case against both Clinton and Gore, proving they have betrayed the interests of the U.S. and its allies in exchange of illegal campaign monies from China. The stories about Lewinski, the other Jane Doe's and Danny Williams are trivial compared to the serious danger into which Clinton and Gore put the world by helping the People Republic of China modernize its Army and allowing China to export Weapons of Mass Destruction to the worst enemies of humanity. The book is very well-written and every allegation therein is supported by references to official reports and media news accounts. At the end, the reader feels helpless, realizing that the main stream media is not reporting seriously about these outstanding offenses, and the book has not received the exposure it deserves in the media. Fo this reason, I am going to buy multiple copies of the book and give them to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars There Goes the Legacy Bill!, April 3, 2000
By
Johnnie B. (Dallas, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash (Hardcover)
Mssrs Triplett and Timperlake unravel the Clinton campaign finance scandal. They show how Chinese government officials went about helping Bill Clinton get elected to the Presidency since he would allow them to get sensitive technology and leave them alone. They also show how Clinton and his flunkies gladly accepted this much needed assistance from their Communist benefactors.

The book is almost pure fact. Where it is conjecture, the authors note it as such and always do a great job selling their case. The color photos are pretty damning too.

Clinton and crew seem to be concerned about the impeachment putting a black mark on their legacy. They shouldnt worry about that. This book has sunk the Clinton legacy for eternity.
