Good action, but a sad reminder,

This review is from: The Year in Sports 1994 (VHS Tape)
It is always exciting to view these tapes years after the events, despite the fact that we get so excited when they occur; it is not long before we forget them. However, in this case I watched the tape with a great deal of sadness. While I had not forgotten that there was no World Series that year due to a labor strike, I had forgotten the incredible year the hitters were having up to the time of the strike. As amazing as it sounds, in the first part of August there was the very real possibility that there would have been a Triple Crown winner, a 400 hitter and there would have been more than one person challenging the then home run record of Roger Maris. Granted that this combination was remote, it would have been electrifying to have seen it all played out. It could have dwarfed the excitement of the McGuire-Sosa race.
As is always the case, the people at SI do an excellent job in abbreviating a full season of major sports down into 50 minutes and Marv Albert is superb at narrating the action. These tapes are great to pull off the shelf when things are otherwise lousy as they are a great lifter of the spirits. With the possible exception of this one.
