Editorial Reviews

Black Mountaina??s Year Zero soundtrack is nothing less than the banda??s full, balls-out glory distilled down to one dense, 45-minute acid tab of music. Featuring five new songs and five previously released songs, the Year Zero soundtrack weaves crunching, analog psych metal; futuristic droneouts; and, somehow, a twisted saxaphone ditty.

Great mix of Black Mountain songs. Modern psychedelic ROCK music at its finest! GET IT CHEAP on amazon and support good modern music

Yep, these guys are one of the best 'newer' bands i've heard, no doubt about it. I like everything they've done, except for the first song on their first album- too dorky for my taste. they know how to mix the hawkwind with the sabbath and the purple/heep, fearlessly, without ever leaving krautrock (of the amon duul 2/ash ra tempel variety) or a bit of the good ole folk rock behind. so, yeah, support them, with all your hippie rocking, lsd-drenched heart. they even sport longish hair, and though i accept such a fact might be almost irrelevant,in this era of new wavish-emo haircuts, their easyrider looks at least speak volumes about their roots... BUT BUT BUT... i advise you to buy the mp3 and put it in your ipod or burn it as a cd-r. the vinyl version sucks! why? because it sounds way too low and.. uh... opaque. it is MUDDY. and this, my friends, is an insult to a great band. shame on their record company. i mean, if nobody's buying cd's anyomre, but you've got a safe bet with a band like Black Mountain, then AT LEAST force yourself to be a real pro and try investing a bit more money on the slab of wax. change pressing plants!... no, i dont have an expenisve turntable, nor do i have the funds to buy me one. i do have a decent sony thing plugged into my stereo. my records sound fine, for the most part, mainly those released loooooong ago, before the cd craze... so please stop releasing stuff that demerits your own bands, or at least sell it cheaply. same thing goes for other labels, such as tee pee records... such a sad time: our bands record in digital studios, but then try to sell the music on vinyl, since a lot of us are still obsessed with fetishes. but digital does not translate well, most of the time. 'nough said.
