I own pretty much all of the fashion illustration books out there- but this one makes for a great gift as well as reference book. The book is loaded with full color images and a lot of interesting rare drawings that I've never seen before from obscure artists. Spans a lot of years too!

I have the Vogue Illustration book, which I loved. Wasn't expecting this book to be as good. VERY pleasantly surprised. Lots of good illustrations with some real quirky ones I've never seen. Also, some more contemporary illustrators---some of which are quite good. Nice surprise!

This is a great book for any illustrator to have, loaded thick with full color images. The illustrations are done in a wide variety of different styles, hours could be spent considering some of the images. If your interested in drawing people this is a good book to have on your shelf.

This book is on my reference table. And while it covers the span of 100 years of fashion, I was mainly interested in only two decades worth. But the book has the inclusion of some famous designers from the past, including illustrators from Vogue and other modern resources. The illustration styles are fresh and expressive and break the boundaries of stiff cartoony stereo types. I am an artist and refer to fashion and design books daily as part of my resources and this book is a great one to have in your illustration collection.

As a lover of fashion illustration, with book shelves and file drawers filled to capacity, I highly recommend this book. I like the small size and the fact that it includes examples from all eras. My only complaint, and this may be a personal preference, is that there was not one example of the work of George Stavrinos, a masterful draftsman who did work for Bergdorf Goodman, The NY Times, Barney's and The NYC Opera in the 1980's. He died too young, but really deserves a book of his own.

This book is an absolute dream come true for me. It has inspired me not only costume wise, but also decorating my new apartment. You just never know where inspiration can come from. I would not hesitate for one second to recommend this book. It's really beautifully done.

I was hoping for a lot of pictures of beautiful fashion illustrations. I feel like I got a textbook instead. The history of fashion illustration is interesting and relevant considering the resurgence in interest in design thanks to Project Runway, but I bought the book because good fashion illustrations are harder to find, not because I want to know why. There were a few examples of each style of drawing in the book and why illustration is/was important and when. If I'd gotten a wordless book full of beautiful images I probably would have been happier with this book.

This is a quality, stunning beautiful book. Enormous with beautiful color illustrations on every page. I bought it as a present for a young woman and after it arrived I decided to get one for myself too, for those times when you just want to be entertained in a lovely and fun way.
