5.0 out of 5 stars slim comes hard, September 16, 2003

Soulja Slim demonstrates that he can survive without the help of Master P. Lets face it No Limit always played favorites with their artists. In 2000, P only released albums from himself ,C-Murder, and Snoop Dogg. No attention was paid to the lesser known artists such as Magic or Soulja Slim. Only C-Murder supported Soulja Slim throwing Slim onto C-P-3.COM. On "U bootin up" Slim makes it clear that his friendship with C-Murder was the only thing stopping him from lashing out at Silkk the Shocker:"I wasn't gonna f*** wit ya on the strength of C(-Murder) but now i'ma f*** wid ya on the strentgh of P"
Every artist on No Limit thought that No Limit should have been run by C-Murder, who although lack s the bussiness savvy of big brother P at least never played favorites with his artists(C released two Magic albums in the span of one year on Tru records)
Anyway Slim can survive on his own and with the collaboration with B.g. just around the corner, Slim's future looks bright.

4.0 out of 5 stars Soulja Slim's final hurrah, August 30, 2007
This review is from: Years Later a Few Months After (Audio CD)
Even though most posthumous albums are not usually good, Soulja Slim's Years Later...A Few Months After is one of the few exceptions. Hustler was a good song to kick off the album with. Cheeze Eataz is an okay anti-snitch record(Its no Soulja For Life) but Yeahh is a lot better. Heata On Me with BG and Lil Real One is not bad but the hook is kind of weak. I'll Pay Fa It is the strip club anthem of the year and the remix with Mystikal was funny as hell. Soulja Slim shows off his skills on U Hear Dat and Souljas On My Feet(tells stories of how he stomped people with his Reeboks on). If you think that Soulja Slim was going to leave No Limit without dissing No Limit guess again! He rips No limit a new one on U Bootin Up(feat Juvenile), U Gonna Feel Me and U Hear Dat. Skip Material: F*** You N**** is weak, Hit The Highway is awful and Comitty is even worse. Other than that this wasnt a bad posthumous album. Bottom Line: While Years Later... A Few Months After is not his best album(The Streets Made Me has that honor), its his next best album. Soulja Slim is one of the few rappers from the south that could proved that the south has its fair share of talented rappers. Unfortunately he was gunned down before he could reach his true potential. Standout Tracks: HUSTLER, YEAHH, HEATA ON ME, I'LL PAY FA IT(original and remix with Mystikal), U HEAR DAT, U BOOTIN UP, U GONNA FEEL ME, LOV ME LOV ME NOT, MAGNOLIA and IF IT AINT REAL. REST IN PEACE SOULJA SLIM.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 3rd Ward Magnolia's Finest, May 29, 2005
This review is from: Years Later a Few Months After (Audio CD)
Real recognizes real and this album was nothing else but the truth! I listen to this CD so much that sometimes it seems Slim is talking from the grave! He had a bright future ahead but, it was cut short due to playa hataz & bustaz like Master P, Krazy, & Silkk The Shocker. This album defined the original definition of this Soulja 4 Life Mentality sh#t that Slim was always talking about! Soulja Slim strictly stood for the streets & the streets loved him back for that! He was on a level of his own where couldn't nobody else see him for being the real nigga that he was! Them niggas thought that they killed him but, LEGENDS NEVER DIE! Reace In Peace Soulja Slim.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review for Soulja Slim's Years Later a Few Months After, November 10, 2004
This review is from: Years Later a Few Months After (Audio CD)
Soulja Slim started his career in 1998 with the release of his first album entitled Give It 2 'Em Raw, then returned in 2001 with his sophomore album Streets Made Me, then in 2002 with Years Later, and then in 2003 with Years Later a Few Months After(which deserves 3.5 stars). Soulja Slim is a consistant rapper meaning that he talks about the same things on every album, which isn't always bad when that same formula works every time.
*I will rate the following tracks on a scale from 1 to 5, 5 being the best.*
1. Intro - 4/5

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Rapper Amoungst An Industry W/Too Many Fakes, November 24, 2005

First of all please excuse the fact that the title is so long. I decided to title this review the first thing that came to mine upon thinking of Slim. While there are a various number of rappers that try their hardest to be real but in reality are nothing more than studio gangstas. Im my opinion Slim didn't try to be real or a gangsta he was both. Just by listening to his music you can hear it in his voice that the stuff he raps about isn't something he thought would make a good story in a song it was his life. He is one rapper that I will admit to sleeping on and once I had began to really listen to his music he had passed away. I will say this in closing, he is one of a few rappers I would've loved to meet in person. R.I.P. Soulja Slim
