5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise!
Other recent Dilbert books I'd give maybe 4 stars to but this one is fantastic. It's timely too - CEOs who make too much money. In fact, the terrible economy of today. Even a cartoon referring to torture - to see if the new guy really can keep secrets. I appreciate this book for it's humorous honesty. Grab this one!!

14 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE IN A FABRIC-COVERED BOX is a collection of "Dilbert" comic strips that were featured in newspapers from Oct. 2008-July 2009. There really isn't anything new here. However, these strips were published during the middle of the recent and ongoing Great Recession so the usual humor about how bad the economy, staff cuts, and the loss of one's job is...

I've read Dilbert for years. I never want to part with my older volumes. 14 Years of Loyal Service is one of the best! I guess since my company is turning into something that I really don't recognize... & don't like... I can relate more than ever.

I'd give this book 5+ if I could. After coming home with a panic attack from trying to make sense of some pretty senseless directives, it's nice to know that Dilbert understands.

14 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE IN A FABRIC-COVERED BOX is a collection of "Dilbert" comic strips that were featured in newspapers from Oct. 2008-July 2009. There really isn't anything new here. However, these strips were published during the middle of the recent and ongoing Great Recession so the usual humor about how bad the economy, staff cuts, and the loss of one's job is more relevant than it has been in years. All of the strips, both the dailies and Sundays, are reproduced in full color. The book opens with an introduction by Adams talking about the jobs he dreamed of having as a kid and the jobs he worked as an adult. 14 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE IN A FABRIC-COVERED BOX isn't the best "Dilbert" collection, but it is a good overview collection.

Freaking brilliant effort once again. Scott is a corporate savant without the benefit of working the field for a couple of decades. A must re-re-read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not his best work, January 9, 2010
This review is from: 14 Years of Loyal Service in a Fabric-Covered Box: A Dilbert Book (Paperback)
Maybe it's just me but this collection seems a little depressing compared to his earlier cartoons. I AM a fan and I did enjoy a lot of it but I just think it could have been better.

I enjoy a lot reading and rereading Dilbert Books, they remember my years in a multinational, working in a cubicle myself!! Al least we can laugh about it.

If you are a Scott Adams fan, and I am, you will like this book. It helps to have worked for years in an office and observed a lot of these foibles close up.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was on sale., October 1, 2011

I am a lifelong cubicle dweller, and I think Dilbert is a funny comic strip. But there is something so generic about Dilbert. I'm spoiled - I grew up on Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes, and the unchallenged master of comic strips, Peanuts. I want to laugh, but if it makes me think at the same time, I'm fine with that. Dilbert reminds me of the Simpsons. Every now and then the show hits a nerve or makes me laugh out loud. But most of the time, it feels like its been running in place for the last fourteen years. I was hoping for more from this book. Instead, I got loyal service.

Some of the Best strips ever on the economy, and work in general, all crammed into a nice tidy fabric covered package. Yes you can get all these strips free on line at Scott Adams website. But no you cannot get them in such a nicely presented package. The quality of the art and of the book itself is top notch. If you are a Dilbert fan, you know a Dilbert fan, or you think that one guy you once knew who was a friend of a friend was a Dilbert fan... then you are sure to love this book.

Local paper no longer publishes Dilbert so I bought several books at Amazon. I love this character and am sorry that the Phila Inquirer doesn't carry it anymore.
