I don't know much about folk music, especially Irish Folk music, but this cd is SWEET! The songs are rather silly, and the entire album makes me smile...

My grandparents had one of the Irish Rovers albums when I was growing up and I came to love their songs. This is a nice mix of some of their songs.

Sung Like Irish Songs,

This review is from: Years May Come Years May Go (Audio Cassette)
Years May Come, Years May Go is twenty-four minutes and nine seconds and was released in 1993. Years May Come, Years May Go by The Irish Rovers is a bunch of songs that are not Irish songs, but sound like Irish songs. My only beef with the cassette is that it is too short. Still I am giving Years May Come, Years May Go an A-.

AHH . . . THE UNICORN ! :),

The Irish Rovers . . . a name that instantly conjures up melodies with the lilt of an Irish Brogue . . . one undeniable fact about the Irish is they possess the gift of "song" . . .the songs can bring a smile and twinkle to your eye . . .and they can just as quickly bring a misting of tears to those same eyes . . .
That dual magic is evident in the song I purchased this cd "Years may Come, Years may Go" for: THE UNICORN. I heard this song years ago when it was a hit for The Irish Rovers and i bought it on one of those old 45 RPM plastic records (with that giant hole in the center)! Often my mom and I would just spontaneously burst out singing THE UNICORN (doing our best to capture that Irish Brogue delivery) . . . so as age is creeping up and gaining on us, I wanted to get this song on cd to be able to listen to for some years yet to come. I was not disappointed . . . this is a really good album! Amoung the other song tracks, I'll mention just two more that have impressed me. The title song: YEARS MAY COME, YEARS MAY GO . . . just a captivating lyric message and wonderful melodic harmonies . . . a song you want to hit "replay" several times in a row because you just don't want the song to end . . . kind of like the essage of the song itself. GOODNIGHT IRENE -- The Weavers song . . and The Irish Rovers do it more than justice in their rendering staying right with the original folk tradition and sound. They say that everybody's Irish on Saint Paddy's Day . . .well, when it comes to song, the Irish have a magical way of touching everyone's heart and soul . . . and for a little while at least, every listener becomes Irish. Thanks to The Irish Rovers for all of their great recordings . . .and thanks for THE UNICORN . . . they might have missed boarding the ARK . . . but they can be found alive and well and dancing on this cd. :)
