This review is from: 15 Years in a Photographer's Life (Paperback)
Nadine Blacklock, a skilled photographer, was killed in a tragic automobile accident at age 44 in 1998. She liked to travel, often alone, into the open country, especially the upper midwest, and photograph in color whatever motivated her. The book, written in 1997, a year before her accident, consists of sections, each for one year of her wandering over a span of some fifteen years. It reads like a personal journal, one in which she paints for us her feelings, her motivations, and her sheer joy of photography. The text is illustrated by her images, ones that she liked, ones that give a sense of what she saw and who she was. Nadine co-authored a number of other books (with her husband Craig), but this one best seems to capture the essence of the person and the photographer. If you enjoy literal color photography that captures the essence of place, you will find this little book attractive. If you also seek to understand something of the person behind the camera, you will find this of real interest.
