1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry
Sorry - recently ordered cd's by Laurie Berkner, Ralph Covert, Jessica Harper and Justin Roberts.

Yellow Bus, buy Justin Roberts was a disappointment. Nora's Room by Jessica Harper is the family favorite. Have trouble getting all the way through Yellow Bus.

It is impossible to listen without singing along to the tunes and is perfect for long car trips. My husband and I, as huge music lovers ourselves, were on a quest to find kids' music that we could also enjoy. We found Justin Roberts, and now own every kids' CD he has.

5.0 out of 5 stars A charming, warm and funny CD, November 1, 2001

I bought this album for my one-year-old son based on previous Amazon reviews, and in the hope that not only would he like it, my husband (who loves music but hates most kids' stuff) would be able to tolerate it during what were sure to be repeated listens. Bullseye! Not only does my little guy absolutely love it, clapping his hands and wriggling with glee at the very first notes, but my husband and I both think it's wonderful as well. The lyrics are subtle and very amusing; the melodies span a suprisingly wide range from mellow to more revved-up. This is one CD that will withstand lots and lots of plays. Recommend highly.

Finally, children's music that you truly enjoy. My husband and I love Justin Roberts. We even listen to it when the kids aren't around. The kids love to dance and sing along.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy, wholesome, sing-a-long fun for kids and parents, December 6, 2003

Justin Roberts' "Yellow Bus" is an awesome CD to travel with in the car. Children from babies to pre-teen will love it. Songs range from joyful and upbeat to lullaby-esque and beautiful. Also try his fabulous newest CD, "Not Naptime".

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing CD, January 29, 2002

My husband and I recently purchased this for our one-year old son. It's an absolute delight. The songs are all brilliantly crafted, catchy, fun and won't drive you out of your mind after you listen to it for the 10th time in one day. Our son loves it, singing along with "Tickle My Toes" (okay, just when he says "Mama", but he's singing along!), and absolutely squeals when we put it on. It captures childhood without being precious. Honest, funny, heartbreaking at times ("Mama is Sad"). Also, "All Eyes On You" perfectly captures that feeling you have when you tuck them in at night. I will get this cd for everyone I know with a child. I hope you do too.

This album is made for kids but you will find yourself humming along to these engaging and intelligent songs. Forget the Wiggles and Raffi, Justin knows how to write songs that don't assume that you and your children don't have brains or musical taste! These songs are a pleasure to hear over and over again, it's been in our CD player ever since we got it!

5.0 out of 5 stars joyous, witty music for kids (and adults), March 22, 2001
This review is from: Yellow Bus (Audio CD)
My kids love to dance and sing to this CD. "Yellow Bus" and "Willy was a Whale" are favorite cuts. The CD has funny and fresh takes on ABC's and how to say "W" in different words. Very enjoyable.

Every once in a while I really EXCITEDLY anticipate something...like vacation, or seeing a long-lost friend. When I heard Justin was recording another album, vacations and long-lost friends had to make room. This record is absolutely marvellous. I am continually amazed at the ease with which Justin describes kids' thoughts, dreams, fears in such a way that we grown-ups can appreciate them anew. His songs appeal to toddlers and grandparents for their observant quality, truth, and overall FUN quotient. In the three days since I bought this disc, I have in turn been unable to get "Rocketship," "Willy Was A Whale," and "Tickle My Toes" out of my head. I find myself singing them to myself at work, and just let me say I'm glad I'm not the only parent of a small one in my office! Whether you're a kid or a grandparent or in between, Justin's new album is a treasure. Buy it. You'll be glad.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have!!, April 11, 2004
By A Customer

I first borrowed this CD from our Library having never even heard of Justin Roberts. We (myself and my two year-old daughter) immediately fell in love with it. The songs are so well done - the lyrics and music are incredible. I am so impressed with this artist. I would recommend this CD for any parent to get for their kids and to give as presents for any children in their life.

4.0 out of 5 stars How can you go wrong if it keeps your 2 yr old busy?, February 28, 2004

Looking to break out of the 24 hour rotation of Dan Zanes CDs usually playing in out house and car (don't get me wrong we LOVE Dan Zanes, but 18 months of pretty much non-stop calls for mixing it up), we decided to give Justin Roberts a try. The songs are very catchy and my 2 year old was singing a few of them after only one or two listens. The quality and catchiness of the songs make it enjoyable for parents too. My only complaint is that a few of the songs go on a little too long. You are probably familiar with the attention span of toddlers - they want the next song a lot.
If you're looking for other ways to avoid the Wiggles and make the car ride as enjoyable for you as it for them, look into Dan Zanes and the Mother Goose Rocks series.
