5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!!, February 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Yellow Children (Audio CD)
This is Dadawa's first release (1992) and not as widely available as her two next (Sister Drum and Voices from the sky). Zhu Zhe-Qin's voice is just as mesmerizing as on the other albums, but the compositions by He Xun-tian are less Tibetan than the next two albums. They lean more on traditional chinese influences, even though the sound and compositions are still modern in most ways. The music is beautiful and this album soars! Highly recommended if you can find it.... (try CDuniverse).

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful Music, January 21, 2005
This review is from: Yellow Children (Audio CD)
This album, in my opinion, is Zhu Zhe Qin's and He Xun Tian's best work. There is an ethereal, quiet quality to the songs which is just plain soothing for the soul. He Xun Tian's deft use of traditional Chinese instruments and choir has created a sound that crossovers to "western" ears and will definitely appeal to a wide audience. The music doesn't sound forced nor do the notes gyrate on the nerves as some Chinese albums do. Mandarin is not a prerequisite to enjoy this gem, though gloss over the translated lyrics to appreciate the emotion oozing from songs like "The Child Going Far Away" or "The Unknown Father".

What a wonderful collaboration. Thank You!
