The necklace was beautiful, the engraving very fine and delicate. Made my girlfriend very happy, she loved it. Now a little over a year there are fine scratches on the back of the locket , and a small black dot. The chain is still in excellent condition. I have to say it is very disappointing to see something so pretty get tarnished so fast. She has had it a little over a year, gold being an inert metal shouldn't tarnish so easily , and 14K gold , isn't so soft that it will scratch this easily either.My only conclusion is that the quality of the necklace isn't very high quality. Its a shame however ,not too shocking looking at the price. You get what you pay for, and this is no different. I do feel a bit mislead by the description : "Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold, bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass.
