A variant of the Agate gemstone and composed from Chalcedony, Onyx is available is a variety of colors. These earrings were a little too heavy and the backs supplied do not hold them in place sufficiently therefore they look like they are going to fall out

Tiffany's sells these earrings for $150+. There are subtle differences which the jewelry afficionado will notice and may decide matter but I didn't value the small touches that highly. The only thing I would caution is the backings are small. Since the stud is heavy, the earring tends to fall a bit. I replaced the backings with larger diameter backings and the studs did not droop at all.
