I bought these earrings for my sister's birthday later this month but I really like them & may keep them for myself.

Mine arrived in a beautiful velvet box with care instructions included, along with with warrant & authenticity information.

3.0 out of 5 stars White gold, black diamonds, June 29, 2008
Amazon has serious quality control issues in their jewelry department, and these earrings are a perfect example. They fall far short of the advertised 4.5 mm. They are very pretty earrings, but I don't believe the ones I received were anywhere near 1 cttw. None of the jewelry stores I went to carried black diamond studs, so I couldn't compare them to pairs that were actually weight certified. The backs are very loose, so much so that I'm sure I will be paranoid when I wear them, checking my ears all night long. I did decide to keep them, since I got them for such a good price. 3.0 out of 5 stars Keep your metric measurer handy..., June 19, 2008
The first set came the wrong size (too small). Luckily, I had a metric measurement handy for this. I contacted Amazon, who initially sent me a reply as to the size they are supposed to be (thinking I didn't know how to measure them). So, I replied with the fact they still were too small (3 to 3.25mm versus the 4.5mm they are supposed to be). They did send out replacements (which were quite obviously larger than the first set).

While they did come through on this, it put a bad feeling in me about ordering gifts that might be sent directly to the recipient from thier jewelry selection (especially when the total carot weight matters).

I may order again for myself (these are for a gift anyhow, but I had them sent to me first), but not for any gift that goes directly to the recipient after this experience in ordering jewelry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Black diamond studs - incredibly small!, April 24, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm not one for large earrings, but this was ridiculous. They were a fraction of the size of my white diamond studs which have a slightly higher carot weight. I must get educated on black diamonds before ever making another purchase. They seemed so pretty in the picture. Are they heavier than white diamonds? Does that explain their smallness? What exactly does a black diamond occlusion look like? I'd find out before purchasing! I won't even get into the problems with the barely there backings. The butterflies must have flown away in transit. The earrings flew back too via UPS.
Consider them baby earrings - not for grown ups. And don't feel offended when the diamond earrings you scrimped and saved for arrive in a mini baggie inside of a tiny blue pouch. Someone decided they didn't even deserve a velvet box. They might be diamonds, but you won't feel very special when you receive them.

In regards to the review stating her other diamond earrings are bigger but the asme cttw - the setting can make diamonds appear larger. Also, you get more light reflection on white diamonds than on black.

I got these as a lightning deal for $44.99 and consider it a STEAL!

I just want everyone to be aware of how earrings are often listed... they are listed by the total carat weight of the set. So if a set of earrings is listed at 1CT that means that they are 1/2CT EACH!! not 1CT each otherwise they would be listed as 2CT... The same goes with any piece of jewelry with multiple gems, total carat weight, not individual carat weight. This isn't always the case... but as many people seem to be complaining about the size of the gems it seems that this is the way the Amazon has the gems listed.

5.0 out of 5 stars BLACK DIAMONDS ARE DENSER/APPEAR SMALLER, August 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 14k Yellow Gold Black Diamond Stud Earrings (1 cttw) (Jewelry)
The stones are black, but unlike onyx, they are clear at their depths. Today, I went shopping around jewelry stores for 1cttw black diamond studs. I had these earrings in tow...for comparison. The average price for a 1cttw black diamond stud is 400. None of the earrings I saw were as sparkling as these. While many reviewers seem unhappy about these earrings's size, I'll tell you, all of the 1cttw studs I saw today, were smaller than these. Really. I was mildly shocked.

I don't know much about black diamonds, but I have learned they are denser than white diamonds. In appearance, they are quite a bit smaller than white diamonds of the same carat weight. On average, they are not perfect and under the loupe imperfections become obvious. My earrings do have some imperfections than can be seen when magnified, but the beauty and sparkle of these stones are not affected. The closest analogy I can make is: White clothing shows dirt and imperfections directly to the eye. Black clothing may not be pristine, but the beauty of the clothing is unaffected, and most often, the imperfections cannot be seen by the eye.

These are beautiful earrings. Highly reflective and sparkling. The 14k setting is sturdy and Amazon's price is fantastic....crazy good! They have their own unique beauty and really cannot be compared to white diamonds in size or grading. On the ears, the imperfections in these stones do not diminish their beauty. These are beautiful, black, sparkling beauties. I'm glad to have them. UPDATE: I get so many compliments on these earrings. Often, I'm asked; "What kind of stone is that?"

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Cheats Customers, February 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 14k Yellow Gold Black Diamond Stud Earrings (1 cttw) (Jewelry)
When I ordered these I noticed there were negative reviews regarding customers not getting what they ordered and payed for. However because Amazon continues to do business with this vendor and continues to stake their reputation on selling this product I thought I would take the chance and order these earrings.

WRONG DECISION!!! DO NOT ORDER THESE EARRINGS!! DO NOT TRUST AMAZON!! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO ANOTHER STORE!!

Amazon knows they have bad reviews and they know this vendor is cheating people and stealing their money and yet Amazon continues to do business with this crooked vendor and continues to help cheat consumers.

Amazon SUCKS AND THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!

I purchased these for my wife but was really disappointed. She expected diamonds of any kind to be translucent but these have none. The could be a couple of chunks of obsidian. Not sure I will buy jewerly on-line again.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the look of it, August 15, 2008

I love the look of these and want to buy them. Thank you so much celeste for putting up a picture on an actual ear. That helps alot. There are good and bad reviews about it. And some has bought these for less than 50 buck. Now I'm having second thoughts, am I going to pay too much for these? I don't know.
