4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down, August 24, 2009

While I share almost nothing in common with the main character from her location to her agoraphobia, I thoroughly enjoyed traveling through Marcy's world. So much so that I was unable to put the book down and read through the night.

The characters are quirky but real. It has been one of my favorite books this year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Food, Fear, and Family in Seattle, July 5, 2009

I learned of this book and Marcy Chen on Twitter so did really know what to expect. But I was pulled in by the story and found Yellow & Green swift paced and funny. Set in Seattle, Chen threads a needle of food, fear and family creating a vivid sense of place and character. It reminded me of the movie Double Happiness which is also about a young ABC (American Born Chinese) woman navigating the world at large, but Yellow & Green sets the stakes higher and throws in a good mix of plot curves and twists to keep your attention to the end.

When I saw Marcy Chen's twitter about her new book, I bought it because she is a fellow twitter author, and that is just polite. I was captivated by it from the first Kindle page. The book is tightly written, filled with emotion, pulls you into her character - and is funny. The book is a great read - now I want the next book - please tell us that you are writing it.
