Nice product.,
This review is from: Yellow Jacket 27362 Outdoor 15-Amp Power Strip Adapter, 5-Outlet (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a great product to use when you need either, more outlets behind a UPS battery/surge protection unit or a set of outlets remote from the protection unit. It's not about foolishly overloading a UPS unit or any single wall power outlet or extension cord. It's about better cord management and ease of outlet accessibility where one already has ample overload protection.
For example,it makes locating a UPS unit under a desk, and remoting the outlets on top of the desk (via a short 14 gauge extension cord) easy. The plastic posts on either end make looping and locking the main power supply cord to the main male power connector foolproof. There's also ample space to write on top of the lock bridges or to affix a label if you so choose. The plastic is sturdy enough such that you could drill through the indentations on either side in the middle of the product for permanent mounting. This is a very well made unit and very handy and safe when used wisely By the way,we all do know not to plug one surge protector or UPS in to another or use them as extension cords....right?

If you plug more than one thing into an extension cord - you must have this - period. If you tie cords together in a knot so they won't come apart when you drag them around - you must have this.
The photo should show how you loop the extension cord and the tool cord through the "cord locks" but since it doesn't, take my word for it - it works great! Go ahead and get two so you'll have a spare when someone steals the first one!

Excellent design, but not durable,

I've owned one of these for several years. Initially, and for long after, it functioned very well. The "trap door" gates which keep cords from being accidentally pulled out of the sockets are a clever and elegant solution. But there is a problem. The plastic of which mine was molded become somewhat brittle over time -- not a problem on the whole, but it caused the arches of the pull-out protectors to break, both within a couple of weeks of each other. I have used this gang outlet around my woodworking shop and on outdoor remodeling and construction projects where I need to have several tools plugged in at the same time. I don't consider it to have been abused, but it has been well used. In fact, I'm using it still. But now I have to be sure not to put any undue strain on the corded tools I plug into it.
Don't let this issue stop you from purchasing one. It's still a great design, and I'm ordering another for the times when I need it's cord-securing capabilities.
