I've just completed installing and properly tuning a split system air conditioner and evaporator coil to work with my existing gas furnace. I bought the equipment, the R410a, and about $1000 worth of specialty tools (no shortcuts) - almost all online (95% Amazon). I did this - after loads of research - because I wanted to ensure that my specific installation wishes would be fulfilled. And I still saved $1500 over the lowest bid (and that guy completely ignored a specific request).

I love this tool in particular. I mean, who doesn't love a plastic case full of specialty tools that perform fantastically? I only had to use this about four times (for each line) of my AC installation, but I am sure I could not have done the install well without it. In fact, the line set being up and out of the way was one of my most important requirements; precise bending was a must. I could have used some factory-formed 90's, but brazing is a pain and not worth the money I would have saved. Also, brazing is not easy close to a wall and not good for efficiency either.

I love this bender, and hope to get to use it again soon. Supposedly, rigid copper lines can be bent if heated and then cooled first.

Note that the empty spots you can see in the picture are for a reverse bending adapter, which is not included. Would have liked to have that as well, but I wasn't aware it existed at time of purchase.

If you install any HVAC copper then save up and buy this tool. It's going to save you in the long run if you do. This will create a variety of long sweeping curves needed in refrigeration copper, and will save you from brazing excess elbows and fittings. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to use because the copper sometimes gets stuck in the curved bending part of the tool. Even with that small problem the tool is worth the money time and time again.

I was looking at this as a potential compact replacement for several lever benders. After trying it out on some 5/8" soft L copper, I have mixed feelings. It does bend the tubing, but it compresses / flattens the outer surface in the process, giving the tubing sort of a semi-circle cross section. I am used to lever benders that keep the tubing's cross section nice and round throughout the bend. If I did not know what a lever bend looked like, I would probably be happy with these bends. I thought I might be doing something wrong, but I can see in Yellow Jacket's own video online that it is doing the same thing. There is also a video on Youtube by a guy named DrZharkoff or something who compares the two and has the same opinion as me. I also discovered that after bending a tube, it sticks in the 'inside curve former' piece, and you need to pry it out gently, or it can pop out and hit the arm, putting a dent in it. I do like that it is easy - you put it in and click-click-click you have a bend. I think it is still sort of a good deal overall, but knowing that I can get a perfect, round full bore bend with a lever bender, I'm still using them for most work.

Not super heavy duty, but it will do what it is intended to. I was surprised by a couple of plastic parts that don't seem very sturdy but I have used it quite a bit and everything is still working fine. Pretty convenient good tool.

I'm an HVAC/R tech who has used the Yellow Jacket's copper lines' bender. It does what it's supposed to do--It bends copper lines up to 7/8 in. without kinking such, it makes work look beatifull and perfect, and eliminates the need for elbows. However, the attachment (to bend copper lines backwards) is something that should be bought with this bender, for there will be some bends that will not allow the bender to do any bends due to the fact that something (such like the air-handler) may be in the way. I believe that the attachment should be alreary included in the kit and not sold separetely.

I really like this tool. For a home owner or HVAC tech with a few bends a day you can't beat it. It is not for a plumber bending pipe all day long, if that is you think Ridgid. The only downside for me is it only bends pipe one way and requires another 100 plus dollars to buy a small piece to bend from the outside. That annoyed me, but I love the tool. PS when using it you have to fight to get it of the pipe until you learn the trick. You have to totally release the bender and then pry it sideways for an easy release.

I have been doing HVAC work for about 20 years, I am not sure why I never bought the set before. Less fittings= less chance for leaks and dazzle your customers!
