This review is from: Math Yellow Pages (Ip (Nashville, Tenn.), 89-0.) (Paperback)

(Revised Edition) "MATH YELLOW PAGES" is the one math resource book that every American home needs. Whether you want to know how to calculate the square feet of a room or yard or how to Bisect an Angle with a Compass and Straight Edge, this is the one book you can turn to for quick and easy to find answers. It covers: Whole Numbers & Counting Number Concepts & Relationships Addition & Subtraction Multiplication & Division Fractions Decimals Ratio, Proportion & Percent Problem Solving Measurement Coordinate Graphing Statistics Geometry Probability Pre-Algebra Definitions of different kinds of Numbers Properties of Numbers & Operations Mathematical Symbols and their Meanings Metrics It has a 12 x 12 number chart for Addition & Subtraction on page 62. It has a 12 x 12 number chart for Multiplication & Division on page 63. It has conversion tables for English standard to Metric for Teaspoons VOLUME (Teaspoon, Cup, Gallon etc.) It has conversion tables for English standard to Metric for Weight ( gram, pound, kilogram, Ton, etc.) It has conversion tables for English standard lengths to Metric (inch, foot, yard, mile, square inch, cubic yard ton, pint, quart, bushel.) It has conversion tables for English standard lengths to Metric (centimeters to inches, kilometers to miles, etc.) Temperature Conversions. It has "shortcuts" in problem solving. (pages 26, 27, & 28) It shows how to calculate Simple Interest. It shows how to calculate the Probability of a Single Event. How to change a Fraction to a Decimal (p. 22) How to change a Decimal to a Fraction.(p. 22) How to change Fraction to a Percent (p. 22) How to find a Percent. (p. 22) How to find the "base" when you know the Percent. (p. 22) How to find PRIME FACTORS! (p. 20) How to find the LCM (Least Common Multiple) (p. 20) How to find the LCD (Least Common Denominator) (p. 20) How to find the GCF (Greatest Common Factor of two numbers. (p. 20) How to find an Average. (p. 19) All kinds of formulas (Perimeter, Area, Volume, Capacity and all their symbols) It even has a page of Computer Terms! It has Geometry, and Pre-Algebra. This isn't everything, but it's a quick overview of many of the essential information that Adults run into in real life, and that every School Student needs. It just has so much stuff that I couldn't believe it. It costs about 10 smackers and that's all. Also very important, is that this book is part of a whole "Yellow Pages" series. They have books on Reading, Science, Writing, Social Studies, and Computers and a few others. I intend to have every one of these for my grandchildren. The people who have compiled this data deserve some sort of public recognition. Most books with this much information cost over 20. Sure there are other good books, but not at this price! . I wish I had found this when I was homeschooling my own children. .

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Math Yellow Pages (Ip (Nashville, Tenn.), 89-0.) (Paperback)
This handy reference guide is a must for ALL parents with students in grades 4 through 7. The math terms are defined in user friendly words, with ample diagrams and pictures. As a retired teacher, with my own private math tutoring business, I use it in every math session. I also suggest the parents purchase it for further use, at home, to help with homework.
