Product Description

TOMATO: Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and the seeds are high in fiber. The green parts are mildly poisonous, which is not surprising, as tomatoes are closely related to both nightshade and tobacco. The tomato was originally believed to be poisonous when introduced into Europe, and was used solely as an ornamental plant during the 16th and 17th centuries. The first traces of its use as a food date back to the first half of the 18th century. Tomatoes are now a tasty ingredient in many dishes, and are used fresh, canned, stewed or even sun-dried.

Delightful clusters packed with small pear-shaped tomatoes. Sweet fruits are perfectly shaped to pop in your mouth or use whole in salads. Vigorous vines bear fruit till frost. Resistant to alternaria stem canker disease. Grow with a few of our 'Red Pear' Tomatoes for a great combination salad.

2.0 out of 5 stars MINE DIED, September 21, 2011

This review is from: Yellow Pear Tomato 4 Plants-Perfectly Shaped
I love little yellow pear tomatoes.

All of mine died shortly after delivery.

They arrived in good condition and died even though I had them in the shade in a watering tray.

The pots were quite tiny and if I had transplanted into larger pots and kept them in serious shade until they were hardy perhaps they would have made it. I also should have ordered earlier in the season.

I have had success with Yellow Pear Tomatoes before.

I should mention that I live in a hot dry climate. Plants shipped from cool places will flat line pretty quick out here.

I have not ordered many plants by mail. Same roses in Laredo, Texas. So I was concerned when I ordered 4 tomato plants. But they arrived in good shape and well packed and now they are a real delight to see them in action. I have a jubilation of tomatoe plants. So far - so good. And the smell is so nice.

1.0 out of 5 stars unfortunately, NOT yellow pear tomatoes, September 29, 2010
This review is from: Yellow Pear Tomato 4 Plants-Perfectly Shaped
This review is coming now because I don't have a computer in Maine and I just got home. The four tomato plants I ordered were shipped promptly and arrived in good condition, however, they weren't actually yellow pear tomatoes. They were yellow, but they were large and regular tomato-shaped. So that was disappointing but I really couldn't tell what they were going to be until it was too late to order more for this season. (They didn't have much flavor, either, sorry to say.) So anyway, perhaps I'll try again next year.
