Yellow Sticky Aphid Whitefly Trap Pack of 15

These traps helped me get rid of a nasty little whitefly problem on my houseplants. I did use these traps indoors, so I'm not sure how effective they are when used outdoors.
The traps were great for trapping the adult whiteflies, thereby keeping them from multiplying further, but I also took some advice I found online and washed each of the infested plants with plenty of soapy water to get rid of eggs and larva that were stuck to the underside of the leaves. You have to really get in there and rub each leaf individually with soapy water and then rinse well, because the eggs that they lay are very sticky and you want to remove all of that stuff before they hatch. I used dishwashing detergent and even though it was a pain, I was able to get rid of those nasty bugs that were killing my plants.

So the traps didn't singlehandedly solve my problem, but they absolutely helped. They do what they're supposed to do, but I recommend a good washing of the plants if you're serious about getting rid of these pests.

This package of 15 was a really good value. I assumed I would get 15 strips or whatever, but I got 15 large sticky traps that were more than enough to spread throughout the apartment around all of my plants, and I still have some left over, which hopefully I will not have to use. It was a really good deal for the price, and the traps arrived within a few days of ordering. Very satisfied.

I've used these traps before and they do work to rid plants of whiteflies and gnats especially if applied before too big an infestation. Traps work best when stickum has been evenly applied to yellow inside paper--traps last longest when used in an indoor setting where they don't quickly get coated with dust and grit blown by outdoor breezes.

And the answer is: All over the Yellow Sticky Aphid Whitefly traps!

At first we thought they were just fruit flys. But when the pest population grew into an ever increasing swarm, we suddenly realized that our bargain Christmas tree (purchased on the cheap from a huge garden center) had introduced a rapid breeding intruder into our pristine indoor environment. All of our indoor houseplants were infested with these annoying devils. Bummer!

We googled around for possible fixes but decided not to subject our precious babies to allegedly "safe" alternative sprays, concoctions or whatever. Instead, we decided to try the least toxic option first-with a wait and see attitude. Good plan!

Not only did these simple sticky cards work from day one, they indicated (by the sheer number of trapped critters) which plants were the most infected, so we just put more cards in and around those plants. In a few weeks the buggys went bye-bye. Completely.

Bottom line: For our indoor environment, this product worked perfectly. Highly recommended!

Tips: Leave the cards in place for a while even after the bugs disappear-to pick up any stragglers or late bloomers.
Once a week, check closely for survivors and open and close the cards to "reactivate" the stickymess.
Since these bugs are attracted to light, putting a card or two near sunny windows isn't a bad idea either.

There is a trellised grapevine right outside my living room window (next-door neighbor's yard) that is a breeding ground for fungus gnats, which come into my home right through my window screens. As a result, they were laying their eggs in my houseplants. These little gnats are insidious and actually bite.

I tried all sorts of chemicals, to no avail. Take it from me, here's a sure-fire way to get rid of them:

- STEP 1: Purchase these traps TODAY. Once you have them, cut them into one-inch strips, peel apart to expose the sticky side and tuck them into the soil (sticky side facing the plant) around the perimeter inside each houseplant pot. Once gnats land on the sticky surface, they cannot get out. These are great because they continue to attract gnats even when wet or full (nasty). The gnats seem to land on them more in the early morning when the sun begins to come out.

- STEP 2: Prepare a bio-control mixture (called 4-4-2) consisting of 2 cups water, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp oil, and either 2 drops of any mouthwash or tea-tree oil (gnats hate the smell of these). Mix well in any rinsed out spray bottle. Add 1/2 tsp dish washing liquid and gently mix. This mixture will not harm your houseplants and will also kill mites and other houseplant pests.

- STEP 3: Spray the soil of all your houseplants with this mixture for 2 weeks. This will kill all the gnats and their larvae. You'll actually see the gnats come out of the soil and try to hang out around the flower pot when you spray. You may want to crush them with a paper towel so they don't fly around your house or try to move to your other plants. Spray daily and within the week they'll be gone. But keep spraying to kill the larvae, which is what makes this pest so insidious. It seems like a never-ending cycle, but the 4-4-2 spray and the sticky traps end all that.

I'm getting great results by simply setting these things on or near the potted plants that are home to the fungus gnats. Within a couple days the sticky surface was covered with well over a hundred flies, I disposed of it and set out a fresh one, same thing, and now there are far fewer fungus gnats around the house than there had been in past weeks. Insecticides didn't work, this was the last straw before repotting, and there was no guarantee they wouldn't just come back again. This is "the fix".

I have purchased this product once again and am pleasantly surprised as always by the results. I love the fact it can be used to monitor if pest activity is present, giving me a jump on things before there is a major outbreak. I use these in the garden each year and now currently hook one on each of my earthboxes. I do not see a major difference in what insects are attracted either to the blue or yellow traps. They both seem to work well. This product does exceptionally well as part of a pesticide program that is completely organic reducing the need for chemical intervention. These traps do hold up well in the elements and last as promised.

This is ONE great product. It did all it was supposed to do, and a heck of a lot more! Within a 24 hour period the cards was almost black with knats! Hundreds, yes hundreds.

If you have a gnat problem inside your house, this is a good supplement to keeping their numbers down, but not a full solution. Only about 50% of the gnats will actually land on this paper, the others will roam around your room. I would recommend using BT when watering (Bacillus thuringiensis: you can find them as mosquito dunks at home depot). I used this in conjunction with BT, and some sand on the top soil of my plants, and I have been gnat free for 6 months. The first card I used is still hanging up.

I have not tried this outside.

It's yellow paper with sticky stuff on it. You unfold the two sides to reveal the sticky goodness inbetween. There is a hole to put a stick/post thru - I used a bamboo skewer you use to barbeque, then stapled them together. The glue is not evenly distributed, but I didn't mess with it and the fungus flies still landed on it and got stuck - mission accomplished.

I would recommend this product to anyone who has problems with fungus gnats, white flies, etc. It is the best product I have ever used. It might look like vaseline on it but it's a non-posinous sticky goo. The price is definitely reasonable and I would buy this product over and over again. Even if it gets wet, it's effective. I rate this product as EXCELLENT.
