two years ago our golden charlie was four and full of life...i received the book yellowdog for christmas...i glanced at the pictures and read the first page and wept.....i could not imagine my life without my golden boy, my chunkamunka.i set the book aside. this past february after a nine month battle with lymphosarcoma we had to put charlie to sleep. i was devastated. my daughter told me to read the book." it will help mom." i did. debra marlin has in words and pictures captured the feelings that i have been only able to express in a downpour of tears. it is a wonderful story of love, i wish i could talk with her....this book is a must have for any pet owner.

if you or anyone you know has lost a golden, there is no excuse for not buying this book. i have never found anything that could help me so much through the most difficult time in my life.

What a gorgeous ode to Goldens. Having been a Golden lover for almost my entire life, but unable to own one (due to age, and life with my parents) this book broke my heart - more than once. I would recommend this to anyone who adores Goldens, dogs in general, or even has a dog - it will definitely make you appreciate your life.

This is a pictorial history of the author's love affair with her Golden Retrievers. The "story" is about 30 pages and the pictures about 50 or so. The story will grab you in your gut and hit you right in the heart of how you feel about your current (or former) Golden Retriever. The story about the cover photo is especially moving. For a non "how-to" book, this one is THE BEST!

My daughter bought me this book for Christmas two years ago. I haven't been able to read more than a few pages before I have to put it away. It is too moving. I know I will return to it after my 13 year old Golden has gone.

After losing my Golden, Cody, after twelve years I have been walking around in a daze. This book helped me sort out my deep feelings of grief and absolute despair. These dogs are spirits in our lives, true soulmates. They are there for us through thick and thin and go far beyond being man's best friend. I could easily associate with Marlin's deep love and deep sense of loss. I wish I could sit with her over a cup of tea and just talk Goldens. A deeply passionate book.

Ms. Marlin's book has restored and rekindled my love, affection, and deep appreciation for my beloved Golden, who, after the birth of two children, has felt a bit disjointed. Her book is a genuine, heartfelt view of life with this breed, and will awaken in all Golden owners the sense of instant love and devotion that is felt by all who come in contact with them. Debra Marlin has captured the beauty, inquisitiveness and innocence that is the Golden Retriever. This touching and beautifully photographed homage to her Goldens will touch all who love Goldens or any other pet. The black and white photography adds an elegance to each picture. As someone who is owned by two Golden Retrievers, I can highly recommend this book
