5.0 out of 5 stars Yenko: The Man,The Machines,The Legend.
Bob McClurg has put together an excellent book for Bowtie,Yenko,Camaro,And Muscle Car guys out there. While the book does have typos(in one instance camaro 540 instead of 450,Or Corvette Grand Sport instead of "Gran Sport"),and it does repeat itself along with a repeat picture (model kit but a different view of it), these are just tiny details of an overall sterling...

2.0 out of 5 stars Errors detract.
I got this book as a Cristmas gift -- I was really pleased that my wife picked out this title --she knows me so well. It's a shame there are so many errors that detract from the book's value. 1969 COPO Camaros and Chevelles were built on the line, not "converted." GM's mid-sized cars (Chevelles, et. al.) were "A-Body" cars, not "F-Body (F-Bodies were Camaros). " I just...

Bob McClurg has put together an excellent book for Bowtie,Yenko,Camaro,And Muscle Car guys out there. While the book does have typos(in one instance camaro 540 instead of 450,Or Corvette Grand Sport instead of "Gran Sport"),and it does repeat itself along with a repeat picture (model kit but a different view of it), these are just tiny details of an overall sterling History of Donald "Don" Frank Yenko(Rest in Peace) and His Yenko Supercars and Yenko Sportscars as well as some OF his employees and his two daughters,as well as the Late Donna Mae Mims(R.I.P.)
There are some pictures that have been seen before but many many others that have not. Beautiful Yenko Stingers,Camaros,Chevelles,Novas all in here. His family background, dealership days, his racing starting in a Corvette and his involvement with Gulf Oil In Corvettes and Sunray DX Oil Corvetttes. Now I don't know why The #14 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe he Raced Once in Augusta,Ga 1964 is not mentioned or shown(there is the Only Scarab Ride he had,a photo of it) or more Corvette Race Car Coverage but Nonetheless I recommend this and the book The Yenko Era by Mark Gillespie(although the the yenko era is more of a Scrapbook of receipts, photos and stuff on Donna Mae,and others.)I also recommend Motion Performance By Martyn Schorr, and American Musclecar Supercars by David Newhardt MBI,And for Sunray DX Corvette Coverage :Corvette Racing Legends:The Story of the L-88 Engine Option 2008,Vettura Publishing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yenko; The Man, the Machines, the Legend, December 11, 2010

This review is from: Yenko: The Man, the Machines, the Legend (Hardcover)
I had heard of the Yenko Chevrolets, that they were somehow set apart from the rest of the pack. This book gives you information that you would only know if you were there in person and were a close friend of the Yenko family. That in fact you do feel like you have been a part of the Yenko story after reading this book. You will want to share this book with all your Chevy buddys, so write your name and address in the front before it leaves. I haven't seen my copy since I loaned it out several months ago. Very informative book, the author got it right.

5.0 out of 5 stars An impressive biography that will appeal to all muscle car enthusiasts, April 13, 2010
This review is from: Yenko: The Man, the Machines, the Legend (Hardcover)
Iconic machines from a time when American automotive manufactures were dominate, 'muscle cars' continue to be extraordinarily popular, and none more so than those sporting distinctive Yenko stripes and badges. An impressive roster of Chevrolet cars, beginning with Stinger Corvairs and continuing through to the turbocharged Camaro and Vega, received the Yenko treatment that was created and fostered by Don Yenko. Car enthusiasts Bob McClurg has compiled and written an informed and informative 207-page compendium of superbly illustrated information on the life and work of Don Yenko in "Yenko: The Man, the Machines, the Legend" based on interviews with Yenko family members, former employees, friends and associates. The result is an impressive biography that will appeal to all muscle car enthusiasts in general, and Yenko fans in particular.
