4.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly entertaining, wonderful music
I too have been searching for this movie for many years. Kathryn Harrold is lovely as the doctor/love interest of opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. This is a lighthearted romance with beautiful scenery and even more beautiful music. The Academy Award Nominated song "If We Were In Love" is wonderfully memorable and will become a favorite with Pavarotti lovers...

3.0 out of 5 stars Most enjoyable!!
I've been looking for this video for years ~ why isn't it being released? The scenery, music & hot air balloon ride over the Napa Valley ~ absolute romance!! Call me an incurable romantic, but couldn't we all use more examples of this kind of beautiful romance? Loved 'Joan from CAlifornia's' comment to look beyond the girth to search for the mirth! 5.0 out of 5 stars pavarotti at his best!!!, February 14, 2001

I'm an avid Pavarotti lover for many years but this movie is a must for any true fan. His performance is outstanding and is singing, as always brings "chills" at some of his powerfullness that Pavarotti can produce from his lungs. The story is quite good too! I am very lucky to own both the movie on VHS and 12inch laser disc which i purchased when lasers disc systems first came out. this of course is inhi fi stereo and run through your amplifier and surround sound system which is remarkable. In the last scence , my favorite, i have to make sure Pavarotti doesn't break the the windows! Just need DVD to complete the set.

Pavarotti is supurb in the amusing and highly entertaining comic film. A masterful and believiable role for Pavarotti, whom displays a unique sense of humor, a man who is happy and secure in his self, who can laugh at himself and share it with us all. Kudos Lucianio! If you enjoy fine music, and vocals, a bit of comic releif, this film is number one on the "Must Have" list.
Buy it.
When is it coming out in DVD? I Wish someone would let me know. My copy of this wonderfull movie, was burnt up in a fire, and I have never been able to find it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slapstick comedy, drama, and terrific music, September 19, 2002
This review is from: Yes Giorgio [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have worn out the sound track of my video-tape--this movie is that good. The cast is wonderful, supporting a very humorous Pavarotti. I especially like the food fight as the doctor persudes Georgio to sing at the Met. The hot-air balloon ride with Paravotti singing "If We Were in Love" is stunning, and the movie has great emotional depths.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...so good, I'm still searching ten years later., January 12, 2000

Granted I first inhaled this special movie when I was just 17 or 18, I enjoyed it so much that I have periodically embarked on frantic searches for the video--all in vain. It seems that this gem is out of print and no where to be found. If anyone reading this should happen upon this tale, my advice is to simply enjoy it. Don't try to make it into something I don't believe it was ever meant to be (eg. some Streep Deniro-like love story). The singing, of course, is unparalleled, and although the acting is lightweight, come-on, the man can't be expected to act like he sings! Although this unlikely story might have easily began with "once upon a time," it's still an adult piece, w/adult themes. Enjoy.

I have Yes,Giorgio on laser disc-and I wouldn't part with it for the whole world. The ending is great-singing is fantastic.
I have watched it over and over again.
Yes, the story is corny-but I love it. I own just about everything Pavarotti has on video and CD.
If you are a fan like me, buy this!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the critics will tell you!, November 20, 2010

This review is from: Yes Giorgio (DVD)
This is a classic film made famous by the late, Maestro Luciano Pavarotti. When initially released, the film was a dud and the critics were highly sceptic. This was perhaps an attempt to bring back the grand movie musicals of Mario Lanza and MGM's former glory. Pavarotti was no Lawrence Olivier onstage and can match Mario's voice, but not his looks or charisma behind the camera. For his part as Giorgio, one gets a sense of that timidness in letting his emotions run wild in the form of acting. Thank God, he had no problem doing the same with his voice! I feel, however, you must take this video for what it is...an ode to Luciano, who stars in a charming, cute love story with some absolutely fantastic music recorded at the height of Luciano's powers. Featured on the film are arias from Puccini, Verdi, Ponchielli, and others as well as neapolitan and sacred songs. There is also one original song written by John Williams and I am sure this is the only place you will ever hear Pavarotti sing, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco!" Forget about the "bad" acting, this is a very enjoyable film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still, a very good movie, after 27 years., September 28, 2009

This review is from: Yes Giorgio (DVD)
I first saw this movie with my mother back in 1982, I was five years old at the time. The movie was my first introduction to the late great Pavarotti. The DVD is crisp and looked like I just saw the story yesterday. The price of the DVD is a bit steep, but if you enjoy opera it is worth looking into. I bought two copies, one for my mother and one for myself. There are no extras on the disc, unfortunately, but I was just so happy to see it in print again, that I was able to over look that. Now, if only the soundtrack would be released on CD; I've been humming "If We Were In Love,"all week.
