PreSchool-Grade 1–Touted to be a "warm and giggly look at life's daily possibilities," this book confuses more than illuminates. Each spread features a different activity in a child's day (such as eating, drinking, getting dressed, and sharing) and then shows two little monkeys demonstrating an appropriate, inappropriate, and possible way to perform that task. For example, on the "Eat" spread, "Yes" shows the monkeys sitting nicely at the table, "No" shows them sitting on top of the table, and "Maybe So" shows them sitting under the table to eat their food in a fort. Unfortunately, not all of the examples are so clear-cut–many parents will likely disagree that jumping on the bed is a "Yes," or that riding down a hill very fast in a wagon is a "Maybe So." Though the device is clever, and Harper's bold, thick-outlined illustrations hold lots of child appeal, the nuances of behavior will likely be lost on many youngsters.–Kathleen Kelly MacMillan, Maryland School for the Deaf, Columbia

Our daughter found this book at the library and fell in love with it. she had it memorized the first day. She was 16 months old at the time. she reads it at least once a day now that we bought a copy.
