What a monster single! Eat your heart out Pointers,

This is one of my favorite singles in my rotation right now. So many people know this from the Pointer Sisters follow-up version, recorded in New Orleans to get the same kind of flavor of that track. The Pointers have the advantage of in your face tight sister harmony. This one has the advantage of some countryesque texture to make it an easier message to swallow.
As a teacher, I plan to use this song as a motivational tool. As an activist, I hope and pray that people like Obama, activists, and the politicians will find inspiration in tracks like this to improve civil discourse and "iron out their problems and all of their quarrels and try to live as brothers". I'd give this one 15 starts if I could. |
