Book Description

February 10, 2009
Yes, we can. That simple declarative, early on, became the mantra of the Obama Campaign. If ever an unembellished, three word sentence carried multiple meanings for multiple people, this was the one. For three years Linda Hansen followed the most recent presidential election, from early rumblings about possible candidates to 2009's historic inauguration of America's first African-American president. "Yes, We Did" collects her newspaper and online commentary and serves as a chronicle of an often ugly, ultimately hopeful moment in national politics.

About the Author

Linda Hansen is a 61-year-old journalist, living and working in South Carolina, where she serves as the rather lonely voice of the Left. Writing political commentary from that POV seldom gets her invited to the annual pig pickin' but she is happy to report that, even in the Heart of Dixie, the political mood is beginning to change.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Piece of History, March 13, 2009

I followed Ms. Hansen's columns during the campaign season, but missed some of her earlier work. This compilation is an excellent recording of history.

So much of the focus during the campaign was of Gen Y, African American and Blue State supporters. Ms. Hansen is a baby-boomer, white woman from the Red South. From that perspective, she has much to offer in providing a different vision of the "typical" Obama supporter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes we did!, March 10, 2009
This review is from: Yes, We Did: The Southern Argument For Progressive Change (Paperback)
Ms. Hansen has brought the election cycle back to life for me! Thank you!

When so many said to we, the Obama supporters, "you're nuts, he doesn't have a chance", or "it's not his time", or even "there's no way, not against the machine that's already in place" - the Obama supporters would just laugh and keep on moving.

The Obama campaign, and the supporters stayed on message of HOPE, and Yes We Can!

Thank you Ms. Hansen for allowing me to have a printed copy of what a whirlwind, exciting, empowering experience it was! I will save this book to share with my grandchildren and show them when the people of the nation made history!
