5.0 out of 5 stars A True Piece of History, March 13, 2009

I followed Ms. Hansen's columns during the campaign season, but missed some of her earlier work. This compilation is an excellent recording of history.

So much of the focus during the campaign was of Gen Y, African American and Blue State supporters. Ms. Hansen is a baby-boomer, white woman from the Red South. From that perspective, she has much to offer in providing a different vision of the "typical" Obama supporter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes we did!, March 10, 2009
This review is from: Yes, We Did: The Southern Argument For Progressive Change (Paperback)
Ms. Hansen has brought the election cycle back to life for me! Thank you!

When so many said to we, the Obama supporters, "you're nuts, he doesn't have a chance", or "it's not his time", or even "there's no way, not against the machine that's already in place" - the Obama supporters would just laugh and keep on moving.

The Obama campaign, and the supporters stayed on message of HOPE, and Yes We Can!

Thank you Ms. Hansen for allowing me to have a printed copy of what a whirlwind, exciting, empowering experience it was! I will save this book to share with my grandchildren and show them when the people of the nation made history!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, WE did...in spite of it all..., April 21, 2009
This review is from: Yes, We Did: The Southern Argument For Progressive Change (Paperback)
Linda's Hansen's book is a fascinating cruise through the events of the past election cycle in which, against all odds, history was made. We are witness to the many hurdles leapt and obstacles skirted that brought us to this point- where our nation's people succeeded in putting the leader of our choice in the White House. Reliving these events, I am constantly amazed by the fortitude of the American people, and how persistence against all odds, along with the amazing power of the grass roots movement, created a force which roared pass all barriers and defeated all attempts to derail it.

Hansen has the ability to succinctly and objectively identify the impact of Neo-Conservative thought and policy on each topic she analyzes, and she clearly explains how we have ended up this crisis we are in. Each column elicited several "ah ha!" moments as I came to a new understanding of an issue and I alternated between chuckling at her wit and being dumbfounded as to how America blinded itself so effectively, leading us to be mired in such a mess.

Linda Hansen has a very important message for mainstream America. I have learned more about the political landscape of the US from reading her book than from any media. She has the ability to explain complex issues in a manner simple folk can grasp, while placing the information in an historical perspective, as well as including her intuitive predictions of future events if a course is not changed. Her sense of humor and colloquial language make reading analyses of serious issues a delightful experience, while she enlightens and provokes independent thought. Yes we did, as she predicted. I think we should call her "The Seer of South Carolina."
