3.0 out of 5 stars Your own weight loss counselor!, December 1, 1999
This review is from: Yes You Can (Hardcover)
Yes you can! is written by a Weight Watchers leader to give you tips and pointers to manage your weight. Rosalie shares her thoughts on how you can achieve your objectives. I found the book to be nicely written, and enjoyed her insights. However, I felt for the dollars Rosalie should have shared more thoughts! (The book is only 196 pages). In addition though the book was published in 1999 Rosalie gives examples using the old WW selection system, not the new 123 Success points system. Since it was so recently published I feel this should have been updated. On the other hand regardless of the system used her inspiration as a WW leader for 22 years is very valuable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource and motivator!, April 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Yes You Can (Hardcover)
I agree with the reviewer above about the program information being outdated. However, the other advice and motivation is worth every penny! I could relate so much to this book, I could have laughed and cried at the same time! It's given me hope that trying to lose weight by going back to Weight Watchers is not hopeless! In the age of no-diet, and all the other programs that promise that you won't have to 'count anything' ever again, Weight Watchers is the only thing that will work for me! There is more to weight control than just counting points, it's also about creating new and healthier habits! Please do yourself a favor and pick up this book. You won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Motivational, January 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yes You Can (Hardcover)
This book is motivational and inspiring, but more than that, it's an accurate depiction of what's it's like to battle an eating addiction and why some people succeed at overcoming their addiction while others fail.

It's not a 'how to' manual. It's a reality check. Rosalie Kaufman tells it like it is - the monumental effort required to lose weight and maintain goal weight, the pain of uncontrolled eating and its effect on one's life, the joy of eating sanely and achieving what one sets out to do. She discusses how after decades of maintaining her goal weight, she still struggles with food at times. She shares stories of dozens of WW members she met from leading WW meetings. As a food addict, I could relate to everything in the book. Everything she wrote resonated with me.

Kaufman gives invaluable advice - and hope - to people struggling with food.
This lady knows what she's talking about. The author lost weight decades ago and has kept it off. They say to find someone who has succeeded in doing what you want to do. This author has walked the walk. This book is a must for anyone fighting a food addiction. Every time I reread it, I pick up understanding and wisdom on deeper and deeper levels. Brilliant.
