More About the Author

I was born on a farm in the rural South of the USA to a family of migrant farm workers. In fact, my family is huge. Some might call it a clan...:-) I'm the youngest of 10 children. Yup, I have six brothers and three sisters. And yes, holidays are a zoo....

Anyway, at an early age, my family moved to the urban Northeast. No more running in the cotton fields for me....:-)

I now live in the suburban Northeast with my husband and a large assortment of plants. I don't have any children but as you can well imagine, I have tons of nieces and nephews.

As for becoming a writer, it kind of slipped up on me...:) I'd had the dreams for years and ignored them. After all, writers are "those" people, right? But, then the medical practice in which I worked, closed. I had more time on my hands and I just started writing. It was very cathartic. Sapphira and Malachi were very happy, as they had been trying to get me to tell their story for years.

`Yesterday's Daughter' by Sallie Lundy-Frommer is a new form of paranormal romance written with such a refreshing style that Ms. Lundy-Frommer should take a bow for her creativity and uniqueness in story. This is not your typical boy meets girl vampire story, so don't except to see glittering bodies, but a story filled with betrayal, love, friendship, and finding who you really are.

Grace Stone was found as a small girl wondering the streets with no memories of her family or who she was or where she came from. Because the police couldn't identify her, she was put into the foster care program where she bounced around until the age of 17 where she decided she had enough of the system and wanted to break out onto her own. But Grace is unique, she thinks she is a vampire, after her early childhood years she started to experience an extreme sensitivity to sunlight and started to crave blood. Afraid that people would lock her up thinking that she was crazy, Grace keeps to herself and works the night shift at the morgue always trying to keep a low profile. Everything changes for Grace when she meets Malachi and her real destiny is revealed to her. Malachi is a Guardian of the vampire community and has been searching for Sapphira, Grace, for many decades even though everyone has though that was killed in an accident when she was a small child. Malachi has never given up his search and now that he has found Sapphira it is his duty to tell her of her past, her family, and her destiny with her true people. But vampires are not the only things in the world that Sapphira must be made aware of for there are Harvesters, humans who drain vampires and drink their blood for longer lives, who will stop at nothing to catch a female vampire.

A touching story of a young woman's search for her true self. Sallie writes with an honesty that is not often seen in today's romance novels.

Yesterdays Daughter by Sallie Lundy-Frommer

3 Stars

Yesterdays Daughter is a vampire story with a difference. We don't have the all knowing confident mind reading male with sparkles or `shit kickers', instead we have the unsure timid female who isolates herself and doesn't know what she is. This all changes on the day she meets her soul mate Malachi. He has been looking for her for years even though everyone believed she was dead and thought he should give up his search. Malachi now has to teach Grace all about her destiny and about the dangers of the world she is a part of.

This was a very slow off the mark book, it dragged for possibly half the story before anything happened to quicken the pace and it jumped around a bit from one perspective to another which took some getting used to. The characters are well developed though and we are given lots of info and insight to their thoughts and feelings, especially Grace who was easy to connect with because her traumatic childhood makes you want to hug her! The plot itself is well thought out, with surprising twists and unforeseen outcomes.

Sallie Lundy-Frommer definitely has the potential to become a great story teller. This is her debut novel and it is a good book although I found the writing to be inconsistent. Some areas felt over written where other scenes felt one dimensional. I think getting the balance right is something that writers learn with experience and I would enjoy to see more work by this author.

Wow This book is amazing. I finished in two days and would have finished sooner if I didn't have to work. Wonderfully story that you become so wrapped up in. I hope that there are more books on the way because I need more. As a women, You wish that your man has the kind of devotion that Malachi has for her.
LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!

First off I have to say that the cover of this book is absolutely stunning. And guess what? So is the book!

From reading the blurb, I thought to myself "oh geez, not another vampire love story". Surprise, surprise! It is another vampire story, but not just any vampire story. It's a unique tale with a different set of vampires which breaks away from the norm and takes the reader into a wonderful new world with an unusual culture and set of rules, unlike any other vampire novel I've read in the past few months.

This author's writing style is much different to that which I'm accustomed to, and it took me about two or three chapters to get into it; but for me it added to the beauty and style of the book. She also efficiently alternates between the different viewpoints of characters, and thus successfully avoids confusing the reader.

The main character, Grace (Sapphira), lives up to her name and really is a very "graceful" character. She has emotional boundaries that few other characters in the book can breach, but she lets the reader in on her thoughts and feelings, and into her world from page one. The second main character - and Grace's love interest - Malachi is the epitome of everything we dream to see in the love of our lives. If you're sick and tired of reading about perfect vampires, then this is the one that will have you falling madly in love with "perfect" all over again. I'm not going to spoil it and tell you why...

What also stood out for me and kept me turning the pages at a steady pace, was the background stories for each of the main role players. I found it fascinating, informative and it helped shape the characters so I could really get to know and understand them as I was following the story.
